Costco is adding to their vegan products with this grilled vegetable ravioli from Italy!

I love how Costco carries different fresh pastas that I’ve never seen before at my local grocery store. For example, this Scoiattolo Grilled Vegetable Organic Ravioli from Italy I found during one of my recent trips to Costco.

Fresh pasta is alway a quick and convenient dinner for us, usually all I have to do is boil some water and heat up a jar of sauce. I’ve reviewed the Rana Tagliatelle Seasoned White Chicken & Mushroom Sauce from Costco the Duso’s Jumbo Chicken & Mozzarella Ravioli, the Monterey Gourmet Foods Spinach & Cheese Ravioli, the Costco Giovanni Rana Butternut Squash Ravioli, the Costco Kirkland Signature Meat Lasagna, Costco Kirkland Signature Four Cheese and Spinach Manicotti and the Costco Kirkland Signature Mediterranean Pasta Salad.

This grilled vegetable ravioli can be found in the refrigerated section by the other fresh pastas. The item number is 1351405.

Taste

If you make sure you don’t overcook the grilled vegetable ravioli, this is okay tasting! I found it a little bland and lacking in flavor to be honest. Unfortunately I did cook mine too long (longer than the three minutes recommended on the package which resulted in my ravioli being a bit mushier than I like.

The filling has eggplant, zucchini and red peppers. The ravioli is neither flavorful or salty and the main flavors I taste are the red pepper and a hint of tumeric!

The Scoiattolo Grilled Vegetable Organic Ravioli from Costco is versatile so you can pair it with a simple butter sauce, a red sauce or even a cream based sauce or pesto.

Cost

For the two 454 gram packages of past I paid $13.99 Canadian.

Convenience

This is a super quick and convenient lunch or supper! You cook the pasta in salted boiling water for three minutes! It actually only needs three minutes, I overcooked mine a bit thinking that there was no way it could be done in only three minutes. You have to keep the ravioli refrigerated before use and the best before date is almost a month from the date we purchased the ravioli.

Nutrition

Wow there’s a lot of sodium in this which I wasn’t expecting because it really doesn’t taste that salty! One and a half cups of ravioli is 480 calories, 13 grams of fat, 79 grams of carboydrates, eight grams of fibre, 10 grams of sugar, 13 grams of protein and 1370 mg of sodium!

If you’re currently watching your carb or sodium intake you might want to skip this vegan ravioli from Costco.

  1. This Vegetarian ravioli caused a serious food poisoning of my son and my wife. This product is previously frozen, which is not indicated on the packaging.

    • I loved these grilled vegetable ravioli from Costco. I froze all of mine and pull out a package when i have a craving for them, let them thaw in the fridge, I will eat on them for a week and they are just perfect even after being frozen. I cannot tell the difference!

  2. I bought and really enjoyed it the first time, admittedly without reading the nutrition facts. Went to buy it again, I read the nutrition label this time and put it back. Although I didn’t find it tasted salty the one time I tried it, I was shocked to see 1370 mg of sodium (60% daily value*). The asterisk at the bottom states *5% or less is a little; 15% or more is a lot. This is 60%.

  3. Hi, So how is this product considered “vegan” when it may contain eggs, milk and fish products? I bought it in a rush and didn’t read the fine print. Now I can’t eat it. What does “may contain” mean in this instance please? Thanks

  4. Just tried this for the first time. We only cooked it for the 3 minutes, and then tossed it in the Kirkland Signature Pesto – absolutely delicious! I don’t know if the pesto brought it out, but it was plenty salty for me.

I’d recommend the combination of these and the pesto to anyone trying them out (As long as you like pesto of course).

  5. Agree about the bland taste. They could definitely benefit from more flavor. I still used to buy these just because it’s not easy to find vegan ravioli. This definitely appears to be a seasonal item. I also find them a bit too expensive for a Costco product so kept purchases to a minimum. Best served with a very tasty sauce – I used a faux cheese sauce.

WARNING: I stopped buying these because I strongly believe I got food poisoning from my last batch (Fall 2021). I also got food poisoning from O’Sole Mio brand vegan tortellini (sold at IGA), so I believe there’s some general problem with how fresh pasta is handled and stored, especially when just refrigerated.

  6. Same frustration here on availability. It is (was) such a quick and convenient meal option. We are also vegan so this perfectly fit our lifestyle. I also agree with the fragility and lack of expected flavor but we compensate for that. We like it best with a vegan Alfredo sauce with sautéed garlic, onions, mushrooms and broccoli. We just cooked out last batch….. sadly. Costco has been out for a month. I have a nice photo but no option to post!!

  8. We really enjoy this ravioli with a tomato sauce. Unfortunately, my local Costco does not carry it anymore.
