While I was in Hawaii recently, I had to check out the bakery selection at Costco. One item I hadn’t seen before in Canada was this Caramel Tres Leches Bar Cake, so I had to pick it up and give it a try. I’ve reviewed many Costco cakes over the years, including the Chantilly Cake, Tuxedo Cake, and Biscoff Cake, all of which I’ve enjoyed. Is this Caramel Tres Leches Bar Cake just as tasty as the other cakes from Costco? Read on to find out!

Location in Store
This is located in the refrigerated bakery section of Costco in Maui, Hawaii but I’m sure it’s available in other places in the United States. The item number is 1366484.

Taste
The cake is light, very moist and very caramely! There is a layer of cake, a layer of caramel icing, another layer of cake, another layer of caramel icing, then a thin film of caramel and chocolate shavings on top.

The cake layers are light yet moist to the point of being pudding-like. The cake has a mild caramel flavor. The icing has a stronger caramel flavor and the caramel film adds to it. The film adds some sweetness as well. The chocolate shavings are tasty, but not really needed.

Overall, the cake is delicious. I loved how moist yet light it is, and the components all come together to create a perfect caramel flavor without too much sweetness.
Cost
The Caramel Tres Leches Bar Cake from Costco costs $17.99 USD, which is comparable to the price of similar cakes in Canada. Considering how delicious it is, I think the price is quite reasonable and offers good value for the size and quality of the cake.

Convenience
The cake needs to be kept refrigerated and has a best-before date that’s about five days after purchase. If you won’t be able to finish it before then, it freezes well for later enjoyment. This is a great dessert—it’s light, moist, and not overly sweet, making it the perfect treat after a big meal.

A 76-gram serving of cake (which isn’t very much) contains 200 calories, 11 grams of fat, 80 milligrams of sodium, 23 grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, 18 grams of sugar, and three grams of protein. Keep in mind that a 76-gram slice is quite small, so most people will likely eat more than one serving.
Ingredients
The ingredients list is quite long and includes several ingredients that some consumers may prefer to avoid, such as glucose syrup, carrageenan, canola oil, and a variety of additives and preservatives. The cake contains wheat, eggs, milk, and soy.
