You better like cheese if you buy these!

I like to have Mexican food on Fridays! It’s just something I’ve slowly started to do every Friday and I’m sticking with it. Last time I was at Costco I saw the El Monterey Quesadillas with Charbroiled Chicken & Cheese and wanted to try them for a Friday dinner!
Taste
Cheese haters, run away because these are CHEESY. There’s far more melted, gooey cheese than chicken in these Quesadillas. The main flavor you taste when eating these is definitely Monterey Jack cheese. If you love cheese, you’re in luck but I have to say that I found the cheese tasted slightly processed and cheese whizzy to me. There’s a small to moderate amount of chicken in each quesadilla. It’s chunks of cut up chicken breast not not shredded chicken, the meat itself tastes slightly processed but that may be due to the amount of oil used in these quesadillas. There’s a slight bit of tomato as well as a smoky flavor. The tortillas themselves are tasty, basically like a standard tortilla. One thing both my husband and I noticed is the ends of the tortilla become quite hard and very crispy when baked, too hard for our liking. The middle portion of the tortilla becomes slightly after baking crisp but is mostly soft. I would enjoy the taste of these more if they had less cheese and more chicken.
Cost
I purchased the box of 12 Frozen El Monterey Quesadillas with Charbroiled Chicken & Cheese for $10.99 Canadian on sale. The regular price was listed as $13.99 Canadian. On sale these are less than a dollar per quesadilla. Considering my husband ate almost seven of these for dinner the regular price point is a little pricey for us!
Convenience
I could see these being quite convenient for busy families! I bet kids would love these. You can choose to microwave the quesadillas or bake them. I always prefer to bake anything when I have the choice! To make the quesadillas, I lined a cookie sheet with parchment paper and preheated my oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. I then cooked them for about 22 minutes, flipping once at the 11-minute mark. I served them with a salad, avocado, sour cream and of course salsa!
Nutrition
So these aren’t the healthiest option but they’re also not that bad if you practice portion control. If you plan to eat a bunch of them you may be looking at a lot of calories, fat and sodium. One quesadilla is 220 calories, 10 grams of fat, 360mg of sodium, one gram of fibre and sugar and 14 grams of protein.
I probably won’t be repurchasing these. They were fun to try, but a little too expensive and I didn’t find them filling enough for the amount of calories and fat in each quesadilla!

Costco
Basically cheese whiz in a tortilla. Coudnt find any chicken and doesn’t taste like much other than salt. I’ll be adding some cooked chicken and maybe cilantro and spicy sauce next time. Might as well make them from scratch. Won’t buy again.
Love these for their convenience. I have made these in my toaster oven, main oven and air fryer and all three produced a nice a crispy quesadilla. I serve them with refried beans and a southwest salad.
I agree with this comment including the use of an oven over a microwave to reheat foots; and I am in Toronto Ontario Canada where I shop at Costco.
I think if these were heated in the microwave they would be soft, as my experience when microwaving like pizza to reheat, does that to foods makes them soggy generally.
What Costco In Fresno,Ca., carries the El Monterey quesadillas? I have been to the one on Shaw since that’s where I shop, and nothing. Please let me know. Walmart is always out of them and all grocery stores here are always out of stock.
