Costco MadeGood Organic Mini Crunchy Cookies Review

With back-to-school season here, many parents are scrambling to find convenient, semi-healthy, yet enjoyable snacks to pack for their kids. These MadeGood Organic Mini Crunchy Cookies from Costco are a great option—they’re nut-free, gluten-free, and not overloaded with sugar.

Location in Store

I found these cookies in the bakery section at Costco, near the packaged baked goods like the Nonni’s Limoncello Biscotti and the Ozery Bakery Seedwise Clusters. The item number is 1854797.

Taste

These taste like simple, sweet, crunchy little cookies. There’s a hint of vanilla, and you can definitely tell they’re made with oat flour rather than wheat flour. They’re quite sweet-tasting, even though each packet only contains seven grams of sugar.

The texture of the cookies is thick, crunchy, and crispy. However, if you let them linger in your mouth, they melt. There isn’t really anything unique about these cookies—they’re pretty plain, so I think kids may become tired of them after a while.

Cost

The box comes with 32 packs of cookies (24 grams each) and costs $16.99 Canadian. That’s just over fifty cents per pack, which isn’t really that expensive in my opinion, but it isn’t super cheap either. Keep in mind that the ingredients in MadeGood products are organic and slightly healthier than those in other similar snacks.

Convenience

The best-before date is about seven months from when I purchased the box. Each pack contains 10 mini cookies. These are a perfect option for a kid’s lunch or snack because they’re peanut- and nut-free, and they’re also easy to eat!

Nutrition

Calories

One 24-gram pack of cookies contains 120 calories, five grams of fat, 17 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, seven grams of sugar, one gram of protein, and 75 milligrams of sodium. I appreciate that there are fewer than 10 grams of sugar in a pack, and the amount of fat and calories isn’t sky-high.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is pretty simple. The main ingredients I don’t love seeing are sugar, palm fruit oil, and sunflower oil, but those are definitely to be expected in packaged foods like this. The cookies contain cherry juice powder and mushroom powder, which makes them seem like a healthier option. MadeGood products are gluten-free, nut-free, and organic.
