Costco Yupik Birthday Cake Mix Review

This Yupik Birthday Cake Mix is one of the most visually striking snack mixes I’ve ever seen! Each colorful component looks irresistibly tasty, making it fun and inviting right from the start. I was expecting a decadent, delicious, and addictive sweet treat but I ended up a bit disappointed. Keep reading to find out why!

Location in Store

This is located in the snack section near the front of the store beside the Kirkland Signature Peanut Butter Pretzels and the Hi-Chew Candy. The item number is 1871182.

Taste

The mix includes coated sugar cookies, swirls, chocolate-strawberry cones, chocolate-covered almonds, cookie bits, and chocolate dots with sprinkles. The chocolate-covered almonds don’t taste very chocolaty, which makes me think the quality of the chocolate isn’t great, it has a waxy taste. The small round cookie bits in the mix aren’t very good and lack flavor.

The strawberry-chocolate ice cream cones have a faint, artificial strawberry flavor that’s not very strong. The coated sugar cookies have a slight birthday cake flavor and are quite sweet. The swirls are just sugary and have an odd orange flavor. The rainbow-covered chocolate circles are sweet with just a hint of chocolate flavor.

Overall, the mix isn’t my favorite, it doesn’t taste as good as it looks. The quality of the chocolate and other candies feels a bit lacking.

Cost

I was drawn to this mix not only because of its appearance but also because of the price. The 681-gram bag costs only $7.97 CAD, which seems quite affordable compared to other snacks in the same section of the store.

Convenience

The bag is resealable, which helps keep the mix from going stale. The best-before date is about six months from the purchase date. This seems like something kids would enjoy because of the fun shapes and bright colors, but I don’t think it will appeal much to adult taste buds.

Overall

Walk on by!

This mix looks absolutely adorable and tempting, but in my opinion, it’s just not that tasty and not worth the calories and sugar.
