I absolutely love fresh crab, but it’s expensive in Canada and not easy to find, so when we were recently in Maui and spotted these Kirkland Signature Crab Cakes with Lemon Slices at Costco, I had to pick them up. Four large crab cakes cost just $26.00, which felt like a steal compared to the crab cakes we had at a restaurant a few days later. How do they compare taste-wise? Read on to find out!

Location in Store
These crab cakes are located in the pre-made meal/fresh meal deli section at Costco in Maui, Hawaii. They’re near the Kirkland Signature Enchilada Bake and the Kirkland Signature Soutthwest Chicken Wraps. The item number is 14087.

Taste
ur adults tried these and thought they were really tasty, although not quite as good as the crab cakes we had at our favorite restaurant, Mama’s Fish House. They don’t have a strong fishy flavor, and the cakes are mostly crab meat, they’re absolutely loaded with crab.

They’re heavily seasoned with a hint of spice. I had one bite that was unpleasant because it was too salty, but the rest of the bites were fine. I was shocked by how many huge chunks of crab were in these. If you like crab, I think you’ll enjoy them, especially for the price.

Cost
There are four generously sized crab cakes in the pack, which costs $26.61 USD, along with four lemon wedges and a few slices of lettuce. That works out to just under seven dollars per crab cake, which isn’t cheap, but crab itself isn’t cheap and crab cakes in general are usually pretty pricey. These crab cakes from Costco are absolutely loaded with Crab too.

Convenience
The crab cakes need to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date is three days from the day they were packaged. I heated the crab cakes in the oven, and they turned out perfect — golden and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

These are great as an appetizer, and you could serve them with cocktail sauce, fresh pico de gallo, or salsa. I’d try to eat them as soon as possible since they contain fresh crab.
Nutrition
Calories
Costco Canada seems to be really good about providing nutrition facts for pre-made meals and bakery items when I request them. However, Costco USA refused to provide the nutrition information for the crab cakes I bought, saying it was proprietary, so I don’t have the information directly from Costco.

A quick Google search suggests that each crab cake contains around 260 to 310 calories, 31 to 32 grams of protein, 10 to 16 grams of fat, and 8 to 12 grams of carbohydrates. Keep in mind that this information is not from Costco itself.
Ingredients
The ingredients list is pretty simple and easy to understand, with crab meat listed as the first ingredient. Take note that anchovies and Chardonnay wine are also listed in the ingredients. The crab cakes contain shellfish, egg, anchovy, and wheat.

Overall
Must buy!
These are great if you’re someone who likes crab cakes! They’re full of fresh crab and are a really reasonable price. They weren’t as tasty as the ones we had at a restaurant a few days later but we paid more at the restaurant for only two crab cakes.
Four large ones.
They contain wheat but no dairy.
No, it’s real crab meat!
