Costco Amylu Organic Maple Chicken Patties Review

I usually try to eat pretty healthy most of the time, even when I’m on vacation. While we were in Maui, I checked out the local Costco to look for healthier options that aren’t available in Canada. One item I picked up was these Amylu Organic Maple Chicken Patties. They’re gluten-free, contain no added nitrites or nitrates, and are made with chicken raised without antibiotics. They sound great, but do they taste great too? Find out by reading the review below!

Location in Store

These are located in the refrigerated deli section of Costco, near the Amylu Chicken Burgers and the Amylu Paleo Chicken Sausages. The item number is 1857091.

Taste

These patties are really flavorful. They’re well seasoned, which makes them quite salty—something that’s pretty typical for sausage patties, they’re not spicy at all. They have a slight sweetness from the maple syrup, but it’s very subtle.

The hint of maple pairs nicely with the saltiness. The quality of the chicken also seems excellent, as I didn’t notice any gristle or unpleasant bits. After heating them in a pan, the patties developed a slightly crispy exterior while remaining soft and tender on the inside.

Cost

There are 16 patties in the 1.5-pound box, which costs $14.74 USD at Costco. That works out to less than $1.00 per patty, which isn’t bad considering they’re organic.

Convenience

These chicken patties are already fully-cooked so you’re essentially just heating them up. There are cooking directions for stove top method, air fryer and microwave method. I heated the patties on the stove top.

The chicken patties need to be kept refrigerated and have a best-before date that’s about three weeks from the date of purchase. They can also be easily frozen for longer storage. These patties are quite versatile and would work well in a breakfast sandwich, served alongside eggs and bacon, or even sliced up and added to a salad for lunch.

Nutrition

Calories

One chicken patty contains 160 calories, nine grams of fat, 540 milligrams of sodium, five milligrams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, three grams of sugar and 14 grams of protein. The sodium doesn’t surprise me because they really do taste quite salty! I like that these are low in carbohydrates and decently high in protein.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is short and simple, with all organic ingredients. I also like that the chicken patties are gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free. Another bonus is that they don’t contain any major allergens.
