When I visited my local Costco last week, I spotted a few new pre-made meals that I wanted to try. One of them was these Kirkland Signature Quesadillas with Mexican Style Corn Salad. This meal has two components: the quesadillas and the corn salad. I absolutely loved the corn salad but found the quesadillas a bit underwhelming. Find out why by reading the review below!

These quesadillas and corn salad are located in the pre-made meal section of Costco, near the Kirkland Signature Chicken Pot Pie and the Kirkland Signature Tom Yum Soup Kit. The item number is 17499.
Taste
The tortillas used for the quesadillas are fine, although they’re slightly on the thick side. What I didn’t love was the filling. It’s like a cheesy paste with a smoky chipotle flavor and a moderate amount of heat. The filling is fairly spicy, so if you’re sensitive to spice, you might find the quesadillas too hot.
The flavor of the filling is good, but I don’t love the texture. There also aren’t any large chunks or even noticeable shreds of chicken, making it difficult to distinguish the ingredients. I honestly questioned whether they forgot to add the chicken, and my husband did too.
The corn salad is really good and reminds me of the Kirkland Signature Southwest Salad that Costco used to sell years ago. It has a slightly sweet flavor, and the corn and peppers pair well together. The salad also has a moderate amount of heat. If you’re sensitive to spicy foods, this probably won’t be for you because it definitely has a bit of a kick.
Cost
The Kirkland Signature Quesadillas and Mexican Style Corn Salad cost $15.99 per kilogram, so the exact price depends on the weight of the tray. I paid $22.77 Canadian for my tray, which included six large quesadillas. That doesn’t seem too expensive at first, but I’m disappointed by how little chicken is in the quesadillas, which makes me feel they’re a bit overpriced.
Convenience
The quesadillas and corn salad have a best-before date that’s three days from the packaging date and need to be kept refrigerated. The quesadillas are very easy to heat in a pan, and all you have to do is serve the corn salad cold!
I recommend serving the quesadillas with guacamole, sour cream, and a side salad. You could also pair them with Mexican rice or refried beans for a more filling meal.

One-seventh of the container has 450 calories, 21 grams of fat, 47 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fibre, 6 grams of sugar, 22 grams of protein, and 940 milligrams of sodium. That’s quite a bit of sodium, but to be honest, it’s not as much as I expected.

The ingredients list is pretty straightforward and consists mostly of simple, whole ingredients. The ingredients list says the quesadillas contain chicken, so despite not finding much in ours, there must have been some. The quesadillas and corn salad contain wheat, soy, and milk, and may also contain egg, fish, molluscs, crustaceans, tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, and mustard.

Taste: 7.5/10 If the filling in the quesadillas didn’t have such a weird, paste-like texture, I’d give this meal an 8.5. Unfortunately, I don’t enjoy the texture.
