If you’re looking for a quick, convenient, and clean source of protein while on the go, the Clean Naturally Chicken Strips from Costco might just hit the mark. They’re keto-friendly, gluten-free, and made with a simple, wholesome ingredients list. Sounds like a win but are they really worth it? Read on to find out.
Location in Store
These are located in the refrigerated deli section at Costco, near the Clean Naturally Chicken Sausages and the Rana Fettucine White Chicken & Alfredo Sauce. The item number is 1758223.
Taste
The chicken looks pretty appetizing and looks like real grilled chicken but isn’t good and I wouldn’t buy it again. It has a slightly processed taste and texture. The texture is more firm than homemade cooked chicken breast. This might sound weird but it reminds me slightly of ham with the saltiness and texture.
The chicken in extremely salty, too salty in my opinion. Other than that there’s no other seasoning or spices. Some pieces have a slight grilled/smoky flavor which I liked. Overall the quality of the chicken isn’t great, there is a lot of gristle in the pieces.
Cost
For two 600 gram packs of chicken the cost is $18.99 Canadian. That’s not cheap but considering that a lot of meat including chicken is pretty expensive now a days it doesn’t seem that outrageous.
Convenience
Although the pack says it’s resealable the corner of my package of chicken strips didn’t tear off easily so I ended up having to open my package up with scissors making it not resealable! I just threw the chicken in a glass food storage container.
The best before date listed on the package is about six weeks from when I bought it. The chicken can be served hot or cold, personally I like it cold in sandwiches or wraps. You can also just eat it alone as a boost of protein!
Nutrition
Calories
1/6th of the package or a 100 gram serving contains 100 calories, two grams of fat, one gram of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre and sugar, 22 grams of protein and 380 milligrams of sodium. This is perfect for anyone following a low carb or keto diet!
Ingredients
The ingredients list is pretty short and sweet with chicken breast being the first and main ingredient. The only ingredient I don’t love seeing on the ingredients list is “natural flavor” because we don’t really know what that actually is. The chicken strips are gluten and soy free but may contain milk and egg.
Scoring
Taste: 4/10
Cost: 7/10
Convenience: 10/10
Nutrition: 9/10 Lost a point for the sodium and natural flavour.
Overall
Walk on by!
These chicken strips are extremely convenient, packed full of protein and have a simple ingredients list but are too salty and full of gristle.

I don’t like them.
1. The pieces are too small
2. The texture is too firm.
3. They are waaaaay too salty. I made a dish with them and I picked out all of the chicken because it was so salty that I couldn’t eat it. I threw out what was left over.
COSTCO, bring back Pinty’s chicken strips; they were GREAT!
