I love to eat cold cereal for breakfast during the summer! Recently, I’ve been having my Nature’s Path Organic with the Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Fortified Vanilla Almond Beverage.

Taste

The Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Vanilla Almond Beverage is definitely unique; it actually has a noticeable almond flavor to it, which is different than other almond milks I’ve had in the past. You know that kind of almond-cherry extract flavor? This almond beverage actually tastes a lot like that. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked the flavor, but it’s grown on me. Even though it’s quite flavorful, the almond beverage is fairly thin and a little watery (more so than other almond beverages I’ve tried). It’s not as creamy or vanilla flavored as I would like. It’s more like the consistency of water than milk. Overall, it’s certainly not my favorite almond beverage, but it’s also not the worst. If only it were a bit thicker and more creamy!

Cost

Regular price for a six-pack of 946 milliliter containers of Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Fortified Vanilla Almond Beverage is $9.99 Canadian.

Convenience

One convenient aspect of the Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Fortified Vanilla Almond Beverage is that you don’t have to refrigerate the almond milk until you open an individual container. However, once you open a container, the manufacturer recommends that you refrigerate the beverage and use it within a week (so similar to regular milk). I found it much easier to finish these smaller containers of almond beverage compared to two-liter containers I usually purchase at my local grocery store, so that added to the convenience factor for me as well. The containers are also small enough that was I was able to store one in the fridge at work to enjoy as needed (which I probably wouldn’t do with a regular two-liter carton).

Nutrition

One cup of Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Fortified Vanilla Almond Beverage contains 35 calories, three grams of fat, one gram of fibre, zero grams of sugar, one gram of protein and one gram of carbohydrates. Compared to cow’s milk, the amount of protein is lower, but so are the calories and carbohydrates. Not a bad trade. Upon inspection of the ingredients label, the Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Fortified Vanilla Almond Beverage does not appear to include many unnecessary ingredients, so that’s also a positive. This product is vegan and NON GMO with no added sugar.

I can’t say I fell in love with the Costco Kirkland Signature Organic Fortified Vanilla Almond Beverage over other almond beverages I’ve tried. I appreciate the shortlist of ingredients and the fact that this almond milk is organic, but after I finish off my case, I’ll probably go back to my old creamier almond beverage.
