Costco Kirkland Signature Fully Cooked Chicken Sausage Review

Whenever I travel, I always make a point of checking out the unique Kirkland Signature products at Costco that I can’t find back home. While I’m not usually a fan of beef sausages, I couldn’t resist trying these Parmesan & Cracked Black Pepper Kirkland Signature Sausages that I found at Costco in Maui. I also appreciated that they’re gluten-free and made without added sugar, nitrites, nitrates, or MSG. Did they live up to my expectations? Read on for my full review!

Location in Store

These are located in the refrigerated deli section of Costco in Maui, near the Sabatino’s Paleo Organic Chicken Sausage and the Aidell’s Organic Chicken Sausages the item number is 1775302.

Taste

I really like the flavor of these sausages, but I do find the casing a bit thick and tough. They’re also a little greasy, although I think that’s partly due to the cheese. The overall flavor is fairly mild but on the salty side, with just a bit of heat from the cracked black pepper.

Surprisingly, I couldn’t really taste the Parmesan, and neither could my husband, who isn’t a fan of Parmesan cheese! These sausages make a tasty hot dog, and I think they’d also be great served on their own with a side of potato salad or a green salad for a lower-carb meal.

Cost

The pack of 18 sausages costs $12.99 USD, which is a great value. At less than a dollar per sausage, they’re an affordable option for quick meals or barbecues.

Convenience

The sausages can be kept refrigerated or frozen if you won’t be using them before the best-before date. Since they’re already fully cooked, there are a few different ways to heat them.

We cooked ours on the barbecue, which gave them a nice, crispy exterior. We used them to make hot dogs and really enjoyed them that way, but I think they’d also be delicious served on their own with roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, pasta salad, or a fresh green salad. As for condiments, I’d recommend mustard, although they’re flavorful enough to enjoy on their own.

Overall

Give it a try!

These sausages have a really nice flavor, and I like that they’re made with chicken and are gluten-free. The only downside for me was the casing, which I found a bit thick, tough, and chewy.
