Costco Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Review

I have to admit, the Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese from Costco was something I had never tried, or even wanted to try, until a reader asked me to review it. I obliged and picked it up during my most recent grocery haul. To my surprise, I was pleasantly impressed by the flavor! Read on to find out what I liked about it.

This is located in the refrigerated dairy and juice section at Costco. near the Naked Smoothies and the Brew Dr Kombucha. The item number is 1952871.

Taste

To be completely honest, this pumpkin spice cream cheese didn’t appeal to me at first. I’m surprised to find that I actually enjoy it! It’s not as sweet or artificially flavored as I expected.

You can taste the cream cheese flavor more than the pumpkin spice. The pumpkin spice is very subtle and tastes fairly natural rather than artificial. I can also detect slight hints of spices like cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and a touch of natural pumpkin flavor.

In my opinion, the pumpkin spice is quite mild, which makes this product less of a risk! I bet it would be great as a frosting for pumpkin cupcakes or carrot cake. You could even use it to make a pumpkin cheesecake.

Cost

The two-pack is priced at $13.49 CAD and contains two 500-gram containers of cream cheese. It’s a generous amount, possibly more than my family needs, but the price seems reasonable.

Convenience

The best-before date is about three months from the date of purchase. However, the packaging states that once opened, the cream cheese should be used within 10 days. It also needs to be kept refrigerated.

I’ve never frozen cream cheese before, but I’m sure it would be fine. I think there are tons of ways you could use this pumpkin spice cream cheese besides just slathering it on a bagel. You could make a pumpkin spice cream cheese frosting for cupcakes or carrot cake, use it in a pumpkin cheesecake, or even stuff it into French toast!

Ingredients

The ingredients list is a lot shorter than I expected. I really appreciate that the cream cheese contains real pumpkin purée. I don’t love seeing carrageenan listed, but there aren’t as many chemicals or artificial ingredients as I thought there would be. The cream cheese contains dairy but is soy and gluten-free.
