I’m a huge Caprese salad fan and when I was deciding what kind of salad I wanted to make for my husband’s birthday I thought Caprese salad would be good. I found this Vello Fresh Mozzarella at Costco and decided to pick it up!

Taste

I used the Vello Fresh Mozzarella from Costco to make Caprese salad but definitely ate a bunch of chunks of it alone while I was preparing the salad. This is fresh, mildly flavored, soft, creamy and delicious. It’s a nice consistency, not too soft and not hard, you can easily cut it. It’s very lightly salted and can be used for pizza, Caprese salad, on a charcuterie board or just enjoyed alone.

Cost

The regular price of the mozzarella is $7.99 Canadian but II paid $5.99 Canadian for the 450 gram fresh mozzarella.

Convenience

It’s recommended that you use the mozzarella within three days of opening it, I knew we couldn’t finish our mozzarella so I froze it and I was surprised at how good it tasted after defrosting! Unfortunately the packaging is not resealable so I had to store it in ziplock in the freezer.

I actually have purchased this a second time to use to make Caprese salad! I currently have some in my freezer so may use it in lasagna or pizza.
