Location in Store

These are located in the freezer section at Costco, near the Partini Jalapeno Poppers and the Sabatasso’s Pizza Singles. The item number is 268241.

Taste

For frozen potato skins you make in your oven, they’re solid. There isn’t much to a potato skin – just potato, cheese and bacon, and these ones have all of those bases covered. They’re tasty and satisfying.

My biggest complaints are they’re just a bit too thick/potato heavy and also a touch bland. I think the slight lack flavor is at least partially because the cheese and bacon bits seem pretty processed.

It would also help if there was a bit more of each or a bit less potato as I mentioned. Overall the potato skins are enjoyable and I’d certainly repurchase them if I were hosting a gathering.

Cost

I paid $13.99 Canadian for the TGI Fridays Loaded Potato Skins in 2020. This year, in 2025, I paid $14.99 Canadian for a box that contains 14 potato skins. That’s really reasonable, and I love that the price hasn’t increased much in five years!

Convenience

These were so easy to cook! I just placed them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and popped them in the oven for 24 minutes at 450 degrees Fahrenheit. The potato skins need to be kept frozen, and the best-before date is just under a year from when I purchased them.

I recommend serving the potato skins with sour cream and some green onions. You could also add more cheese, serve them with chopped tomatoes, or top them with chili for extra flavor!

Nutrition

Calories

One TGI Fridays Cheddar & Bacon Loaded Potato Skin contains 190 calories, 12 grams of fat, 13 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, one gram of sugar, seven grams of protein, and 260 milligrams of sodium. These definitely aren’t low in calories or fat, but they’re not loaded with sodium, and seven grams of protein in one potato skin is pretty decent.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is long and includes some unhealthy ingredients like vegetable oil, natural flavor, sugars, and preservatives. The potato skins contain milk, mustard, and barley. Since they have barley, they aren’t gluten-free. If you’re following a gluten-free diet, you can easily make a homemade version that doesn’t contain gluten.

These are tasty as an appetizer or game day snack! I think homemade potato skins are better, but these are really convenient.

  1. TGIF stands for “Thank God It’s Friday.” It is a common expression used to express excitement and relief that the workweek is coming to an end and the weekend is about to begin. For many people, Friday signifies the start of a well-deserved break from work or school, and it is often associated with relaxation, leisure activities, and spending time with loved ones. TGIF – thank god it’s friday origin has become a popular phrase that captures the collective sentiment of looking forward to enjoying some much-needed rest and rejuvenation after a busy week.

  2. Both the cheese and bacon were a bit bland, and the potatoes themselves sucked.

If you have the time, you can make some yourself with the tasty cheese and bacon crumble they sell at Costco. Make sure the latter is Greenfield though, not Kirkland.

  3. TGIF loaded potato skins taste really good, and other than convenience, that’s the best I can say about them. Just like Deborah Garrett said above, when I opened the box to get them out, I was shocked at how small they were, but I see that they’re a good size for snacking. There is no consistency. Some are half full, and some are broken. I can prepare and freeze my own for a whole lot less!

  4. Move over TGIF pototoe skins, there is a new one at Costco, uncle Rick’s or Al’s. 100 percent better than TGIF. Not rubbery or the cheese and bacon does not fall out. I give them a 10 out of 10. Go get you some.

  5. i absolutely love these! i can eat them whenever! don’t be fooled by the pictures, they taste great and for a better experience i like to add extra cheese to them halfway through the cooking period: this way the cheese won’t burn but it will still be hot and melted! i think they’re a great price for how big they are and how many you get. worth every penny to me!

  6. I bought a box thinking they would be a good addition to a get together. Not so much. The half potatoes in my box are small, the stuff to make them ‘loaded’ was I most cases, a small ball on each half potato. They are in the oven, hope they taste a whole lot better than they look.

  7. These potato skins are the best and you can only find them at Costco. Considering the size, 13.98 for 12 is a bargain, you only need 3-4 for a meal.
