When I think of flavors that capture the essence of spring and summer, lemon and blueberry immediately come to mind. Costco’s bakery has created a beautiful-looking Lemon Blueberry Loaf that seems perfect for breakfast, a midday snack, or even dessert. I was a bit wary that it might use artificial blueberries, as their bagels do, but was happy to find it’s made with real, previously frozen blueberries. Keep reading to find out what I thought of this delightful-sounding loaf!

Location in Store
The loaf is located in the bakery section at Costco near the Kirkland Signature Muffins and the Kirkland Signature Coffee Cake. The item number is 18393.

Taste
This is really tasty and I think if you like lemon loaf, you’ll enjoy this. It’s quite sweet, especially with the icing sugar. The outside has a crispy crust, but the inside is soft and moist. The lemon blueberry flavor is really nice even though it’s just slightly artificial tasting.

Overall, I really enjoyed the lemon blueberry loaf. I could probably do without the icing sugar, but it’s still really good. The blueberries inside the loaf taste fresh and there’s quite a few of them!

Cost
The Kirkland Signature Lemon Blueberry Loaf costs $9.99 Canadian which is pretty reasonable! It’s a pretty large loaf and can easily be cut into 12 decent sized slices.

Convenience
The best before date is five days from the day it was packaged and it comes sealed in a plastic container. If you’re not going to eat it by the best before date I recommend slicing it and freezing it!

The loaf would be good for breakfast, a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack or for dessert! I love the idea of a slice of this with a cup of tea or coffee.
Nutrition
Calories
1/20th of the loaf contains 210 calories, 11 grams of fat, 26 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 15 grams of sugar, two grams of protein and 210 milligrams of sodium. I think most people will eat a slice that’s a bit larger than one twentieth of the loaf so keep that in mind!
Ingredients
The ingredients list is pretty typical for a store-bought loaf like this. There’s a bunch of ingredients I don’t love to see like vegetable oil, artificial flavor and modified palm and palm kernel oils.
The loaf contains wheat, egg and milk and may contain soy, triticale, rye, barley, oats, sesame, mustard, tree nuts and peanut. I’m happy to see the blueberries aren’t listed as being artificial.
