When it comes to chicken burgers, I look for a few key things: simple, healthy ingredients, plenty of protein, and meat made from chicken breast. The Gourmet Grille Chicken Burgers from Costco checked all those boxes, so I was excited to pick up a box and give them a try. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quite as impressed with the flavor.
Location in Store
The chicken burgers are located in the freezer section at Costco, near the Sunrise Farms Chicken Ham & Swiss Breaded Chicken Breasts and the Hampton House Popcorn Chicken. The item number is 5667919.
Taste
Although the chicken burgers are already seasoned, they taste fairly plain without adding extra sauce or seasoning. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing—I like that they’re versatile and not overly salty or heavily spiced. The texture is a little unusual, almost fluffy, almost like foam.
You can clearly taste that the burgers are made with 100% white chicken breast meat. Because they’re made entirely from chicken breast, they can come across as a bit dry.
The texture is firm with a slight chew, and I’m happy to report that I didn’t come across any unpleasant bits like gristle, fat, or bone. Overall, these make a solid choice if you’re looking for a healthy, plain chicken burger option. Are they incredibly flavorful? Not really, they definitely benefit from a bit of sauce or toppings, but they’re tasty enough to enjoy as a lighter meal.
Cost
The 2.27-kilogram box includes 16 chicken burgers, each weighing 142 grams, and costs $18.99 Canadian. The burgers are conveniently separated into packs of four. Considering they’re made entirely from white chicken breast meat, I think the price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get.
Convenience
The chicken burgers need to be kept frozen and come with a best-before date that’s 10 months from the purchase date. These burgers are not pre-cooked, so you’ll need to ensure they are cooked thoroughly before eating. They are proudly made in Canada.
These chicken burgers are delicious in a bun, but they also work well sliced up and tossed into a salad. If you’re serving them on a bun, I recommend toppings like mustard, pickles, lettuce, mayo, bacon, or even a jalapeño aioli. Adding extra toppings really boosts the flavor since the burgers themselves are fairly plain. Personally, I like to cut them up and pair them with broccoli and rice for a well-balanced, protein-packed work lunch.
Nutrition
Calories
One chicken burger contains 200 calories, 9 grams of fat, just 1 gram of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fibre, 0 grams of sugar, 28 grams of protein, and 270 milligrams of sodium. Overall, these are impressive nutrition facts! The burgers are low in carbs, high in protein, and relatively low in calories and fat. Therefore they’re a great option for anyone looking for a healthy, high-protein meal.
Ingredients
really like the short and simple ingredients list, there are only five ingredients in these chicken burgers. They’re naturally gluten-free, soy-free, and dairy-free, although they may contain egg. The only ingredient I’m not a fan of is “flavour,” since it’s vague and doesn’t indicate what’s actually being used.

Overall
Give them a try!
I like how simple, plain, and versatile these chicken burgers are, and I really appreciate their strong nutrition profile. They’re not the most flavorful or juicy burgers, and I wouldn’t call them amazing, but they’re a healthy option that’s packed with protein and works well in a variety of meals. I definitely prefer the Connie’s Kitchen Chicken Burgers over these.
