Taste

This loaf is delicious and I definitely recommend it! It’s simple, but really flavorful. There’s a bit of a crumble on top that adds some crunchy texture and has warm spice notes.

The cake itself is very sweet, moist and dense. It definitely tastes like a chai latte, Costco has nailed the flavor. It’s very comforting and warm.

The cake is a little on the sweet side but not super sweet. It’s simple and delicious and doesn’t have any nuts in it. It’s like a coffee cake and would pair perfectly with a cup of coffee or tea. The texture of the loaf is dense, soft and fluffy.

Cost

The loaf is large and heavy! It could easily be cut into 12 decent-sized slices and costs only $9.99 Canadian which seems very reasonable.

Convenience

The loaf cake comes in a rectangular plastic container. It can be kept on the counter at room temperature and the best before date is five days from the date it was purchased. As I said, this is perfect on its own paired with coffee or tea but would also go well with a bit of vanilla ice cream! It works well as a sweet snack or dessert.

Nutrition

Calories

1/15th of the cake contains 350 calories, 19 grams of fat, 43 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 26 grams of sugar, three grams of protein and 330 milligrams of sodium. I bet most people will eat a slice that’s a bit larger than 1/15th so keep that in mind if you’re watching your calories, fat or sugar.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is pretty typical for a store-bought loaf like this with unhealthy ingredients like artificial flavour, palm and palm kernel oils, canola oil and sugar. The loaf contains milk, egg and wheat and may contain tree nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame, barley, oats, rye, triticale, mustard.
