With Costco carrying such a huge variety of Christmas sweets and chocolates, it can be hard to know which ones are worth buying. On a recent trip, I spotted these J. Charles Chocolatier Sea Salt Caramel Mallows and couldn’t resist picking up a bag, even though I’m not a big marshmallow person. I do love the combination of sea salt and chocolate though, and that’s what drew me to them. Find out what I thought of them by reading the review below!

Location in Store
I found these sea salt caramel flavored marshmallows with Belgian milk chocolate in the seasonal/Christmas aisle at Costco. They were near the Galerie Au Chocolate Caramels and the Stockmeyer Rotating Music Tin with Butter Biscuits. The item number is 1871100.

Taste
The Mallows have a fairly thin milk chocolate shell and a soft, slightly chewy marshmallow center. The milk chocolate tastes like fairly typical milk chocolate. The marshmallow almost tastes toasted due to the sea salt caramel flavor, which makes sense since caramel is essentially just melted sugar.

The sea salt flavor isn’t very noticeable, but it’s there. I think the marshmallow just has caramel flavoring in it, as I didn’t notice any actual caramel in these chocolates.

My biggest complaint about the Mallows is that they’re a bit on the sweet side—even for a chocolate, marshmallow, and caramel treat. They’re still very enjoyable, though. If you’re a milk chocolate and salted caramel fan like me, they won’t disappoint you. They’re very addictive, and you’ll have a hard time putting the bag down.

Cost
The 500-gram bag of marshmallows costs $15.99 Canadian, which doesn’t seem overpriced considering they’re crafted in the UK, taste great, and there are quite a few marshmallows in the bag!

Convenience
The bag is resealable, which helps keep the marshmallows fresh. They aren’t individually packaged inside the bag, though, like some treats are. The best-before date is about eight months from when I purchased them. The bag states that they should be stored in a cool, dry place. These are a perfect sweet treat for individuals who love marshmallows or sea salt caramel.

Nutrition
Calories
Three marshmallows contain 138 calories, just over four grams of fat, 23.7 grams of carbohydrates, less than a gram of fiber, 20 grams of sugar, two grams of protein, and 25 milligrams of sodium. That’s quite a bit of sugar for just three marshmallows, but it’s not surprising!

Ingredients
“The ingredients list contains pretty much everything you’d expect to see in a packaged, processed marshmallow. There are lots of unhealthy ingredients like glucose syrup, dextrose, maltodextrin, and I’m not a fan of ‘natural flavor.’ The marshmallows contain milk and soy, and may also contain peanuts, tree nuts, and egg. They are gluten-free, and the gelatin used is derived from beef.
