If you’re looking for a small Christmas gift for someone you may not know very well, these Galerie Au Chocolat Artisanal Caramels in Belgian Chocolate from Costco are a safe bet. Each small box comes pre-wrapped with a beautiful bow on top, and inside you’ll find three layers of five different kinds of chocolate caramels that are likely to please most chocolate lovers.

Location in Store
These are located in the Christmas/seasonal aisle at Costco. Near the Jules Destrooper Beligan Butter Biscuits and the Gudrun Fine Belgian Chocolates. The item number is 1934996.

Taste
There are five different kinds of chocolates in the box and I tried each kind and wrote down some notes on each one.
Dark intense caramel – The caramel filling is quite sweet and balances out the bitterness of the dark chocolate. The combination is enjoyable.

Dark sea salt caramel – This caramel is more rich with a nice amount of saltiness. Again, it complements the dark chocolate well.

Milk vanilla caramel – The chocolate shell is a bit thicker on this one. The caramel is quite sweet. The vanilla flavor isn’t very strong. The sweetness stands out more. I really enjoyed this chocolate though.
Dark cinnamon – The cinnamon flavor is definitely noticeable and gives the chocolate a bit of warmth. At first I found the combination a bit odd, but I enjoyed it more after the first few seconds.

Milk espresso caramel – This one also has a thicker shell. The coffee flavor is strong and overpowers the chocolate, but I enjoyed it.
Overall these are really good chocolates. Both the milk and dark chocolate seemed high-quality and all of the fillings worked well.

Cost
There are three 170-gram boxes in the pack, which costs $22.99 Canadian. Each box contains 15 chocolates. That works out to just under eight dollars per box, which isn’t super cheap, but the price isn’t outrageous when you consider that you get 45 chocolates for $22.99.

Convenience
This three-pack of chocolates makes a nice gift for teachers or neighbors. Each box is wrapped in gift wrap, so it’s ready to give. They’re great if you know someone enjoys chocolate caramels. Each box has three separate layers with five chocolates in each layer.

Each layer comes in its own plastic tray with a thick piece of paper between the layers. The best-before date is five months from when I bought the chocolates, and they’re a product of Canada

Nutrition
Calories
Five chocolates contain 300 calories, 18 grams of fat, 34 grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fibre, 29 grams of sugar, two grams of protein and 35 milligrams of sodium. That’s not surprising for five chocolates and seems pretty typical to

I like that the ingredients list isn’t too long and includes real ingredients like butter, coffee, cinnamon and sea salt. The chocolates contain milk and soy and may contain almonds, pecans, pistachios, cashews and hazelnuts.
