Costco Kirkland Signature Rustic Italian Loaf Review

I fell in love with the Kirkland Signature Sourdough Bread from my local Costco, so when we were in Maui and I needed bread for dinner, I decided to try this Kirkland Signature Rustic Italian Loaf. I was hoping I’d like it as much as the sourdough bread and, guess what? I did! Find out what I loved about it by reading the post below.

Location in Store

This bread is located in the bakery section at Costco in Maui, near the garlic baguettes and the pita bread. A lady was sampling it at Costco and my dad tried it and fell in love with it so he bought it.

Taste

This bread is delicious. Everyone absolutely loved it, and we actually ended up slicing and freezing it. We used the leftovers for toast during the week, and everyone loved that too! The outside crust isn’t very crunchy or hard; it’s more soft and chewy.

The inside is soft and very moist. Although it’s called an Italian Rustic Loaf, it’s actually pretty plain tasting and really versatile. It went well with steak and was also great with jam for breakfast. It doesn’t have any tangy sourdough flavor and is just an overall tasty, fresh-tasting bread.

Cost

The loaf weighs two pounds and costs $6.00 USD, which seems like a pretty good deal to me. We had it for dinner, then used it for toast during the week and didn’t waste any of it.

Convenience

The loaf has a best-before date that’s two days from the date it was packaged. We sliced it up after dinner the night we had it and froze the slices to use for toast. It freezes well and toasts up nicely. This would go well with soup, pasta, chili or as toast.

Nutrition

Calories

One-eighteenth of the loaf contains 120 calories, half a gram of fat, 270 milligrams of sodium, 24 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fiber, one gram of sugar and four grams of protein. I think most people might have a slightly bigger slice, but this isn’t a bread that’s high in calories or fat!

Ingredients

The ingredients list isn’t very long, which I appreciate. I like that they use extra virgin olive oil instead of canola oil! The loaf contains wheat and may contain peanuts, tree nuts, dairy and sesame.
