Costco Kirkland Signature Artisan Pita Bread Review

Pita bread is something I loved and ate all the time as a kid, but I don’t eat it very often as an adult. During my most recent Costco trip, I spotted this new Kirkland Signature Artisan Pita Bread in the bakery section. After recently trying and loving the Kirkland Signature Sourdough Bread, I wanted to give the pita bread a try too! Would I buy it again? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

The pita bread is located in the bakery section of Costco, near the Kirkland Signature Muffins with Butter and Buttermilk and the Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Danish Rolls. The item number is 1891424.

Taste

I absolutely love this pita bread. It’s probably the best grocery-store-bought pita bread I’ve tried. I’m used to very dry, thin pita bread from the grocery store that tears if you fill it too full. This pita bread from Costco is fluffy, thick and sturdy, so it’s perfect for cutting in half and stuffing.

The flavor of the bread is slightly sweet and has that signature pita taste. The bread is a little bit chewy and pairs perfectly with dips like hummus.

Cost

There are six large pita breads in the package, which costs $8.99 Canadian. That’s $1.50 per pita bread, which seems reasonable to me considering how large these are!

Convenience

The best-before date listed on the pita is two days from when I purchased the bread. I recommend freezing the pita bread if you’re not going to eat it before the best-before date so it stays fresh.

This is the perfect pita bread for making pita pockets! You could also use it to make homemade gyros or serve it with dips like hummus or tzatziki.

Nutrition

Calories

One half of a pita contains 140 calories, one and a half grams of fat, 26 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, two grams of sugar, five grams of protein and 170 milligrams of sodium. That’s not bad considering how large one pita is!

Ingredients

The ingredients list is very short and sweet, with only six ingredients. The pita bread contains wheat and may also contain milk, egg, tree nuts, peanuts, soy and sesame.
