Costco Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Danish Rolls Review

If you asked me what my absolute favorite breakfast or brunch item is, I’d definitely say cinnamon buns. So when I spotted the new Kirkland Signature Cinnamon Danish Rolls with Icing at Costco, I knew they were going straight into my cart. They looked absolutely decadent, and I had high hopes they’d taste just as amazing. Did they live up to my expectations or were my hopes dashed? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

These are located in the bakery section, near the Kirkland Signature Butter Croissants and the Kirkland Signature Carrot Cake. The item number is 2003515. They aren’t refrigerated, just sold at room temperature.

Taste

I tried the cinnamon rolls both heated and at room temperature, and I find they’re much tastier when heated. When they aren’t heated, they’re a bit drier, and warming them up makes them more moist.

The cinnamon roll itself isn’t super flavourful and has a mild, buttery cinnamon taste, but it’s not very strong. In my opinion, the rolls could use a bit more cinnamon.

The icing is fairly sweet with a hint of vanilla flavour, and you can tell it contains cream cheese. Overall, they’re pretty good—especially when heated.

Cost

There are 12 medium-sized cinnamon buns in the 1.090-kilogram container, which costs $12.99 Canadian. That’s just over a dollar per cinnamon bun, which is quite reasonable!

Convenience

The best-before date listed on the cinnamon rolls is three days from the date they were packaged. We weren’t going to finish them before then, so we froze the cinnamon buns, and they thawed and reheated just fine!

These are great as a breakfast or brunch item, a snack, or even a dessert. My three-year-old really enjoyed them as a special treat, and I think other kids would like them as well!

Nutrition

Calories

One cinnamon Danish roll contains 350 calories, 15 grams of fat, 50 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, 25 grams of sugar, five grams of protein, and 280 milligrams of sodium. I actually thought there would be a lot more calories and fat in one roll. That doesn’t mean they’re healthy—just not as bad for you as I expected they’d be.

Ingredients

The ingredients list isn’t as long as I thought it would be, but it’s still full of unhealthy ingredients nonetheless. The cinnamon rolls contain wheat, milk, egg, and soy, and may contain tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, rye, oats, and barley.

Overall

Give it a try!

As someone who eats a lot of cinnamon buns, I think these are good but not unreal. I definitely enjoy them; I just don’t think they’re amazing.
