On our recent trip to Hawaii, my husband was looking for a good light beer to enjoy during our two-week vacation. When we spotted this Kirkland Signature Helles-Style Lager at Costco, he was excited to give it a try. If you’ve never heard of a Helles-style lager before, it’s a traditional pale German beer known for its smooth, easy-drinking flavor. Find out what my husband thought of this Kirkland Signature lager by reading the review below!

Location in Store
We found this at the Costco in Maui beside the Kirkland Signature Premium Golden Margarita and the Kirkland Signature Hard Seltzer. The item number is 1817724. I haven’t checked if it’s available in Canada yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is!

This lager is brewed and packaged by Deschutes Brewery in Oregon.
Taste
I’m not a beer person so my husband actually wrote this review for me! I drink light beers like lagers and pilsners most of the time, and this is a good one. It’s very smooth and easy-to-drink. It doesn’t have much flavor.

The main thing that I noticed is that a bit sweet. I tried it head-to-head against Pabst Blue Ribbon and found them very similar in color and flavor. I honestly couldn’t think of anything that really differentiated the two taste-wise. As someone who likes lighter beers, I could see having a case of this in the house all the time.

Cost
The case contains 12 300-millilitre cans, and we paid $15.99 USD for it. That works out to about $1.33 per can. Alcohol always seems to be a bit cheaper in the United States.

Serving Suggestions
This is a crisp and refreshing beer that’s perfect for a hot day. It’s versatile and mild, making it easy to pair with just about anything. It goes well with salty snacks, burgers, steak, or any meal you’d typically enjoy with a beer. For beer drinkers, there’s really no bad food pairing for this lager.

Scoring
