I love Greek yogurt, but I find it hard to find options in Canada that offer 20 grams or more of protein in an individually packaged serving. When I spotted this Skotidakis Protein Greek Yogurt at Costco, I immediately wanted to pick it up for a quick breakfast or snack. I liked that each individual yogurt cup contains 20 grams of protein and zero grams of added sugar. Unfortunately, I won’t be buying it again. Find out why by reading the review below!

Location in Store
These are located in the refrigerated dairy section near the Kirkland Signature 0% Greek Yogurt and the Kirkland Signature Organic Greek Yogurt. The item number is 2836103.

Taste
There are three different flavors of yogurt in the box: Mixed Berry, Vanilla, and Strawberry Banana. I tried all three, and the Mixed Berry is my favorite.

I’ll start by talking about the texture. All three flavors are extremely thick. Greek yogurt is naturally thick to begin with, but these have an almost mousse-like consistency. I don’t mind thick yogurt at all, but these are so thick that I found the texture a bit unappealing.

Unfortunately, the flavors aren’t great either. All three taste very artificial and have a strong sweetener aftertaste. The Strawberry Banana is my least favorite because it tastes completely artificial. Even the Vanilla tastes more like an artificial French vanilla flavor and has a noticeable sweetener aftertaste. The Mixed Berry isn’t quite as bad and is easily my favorite of the three flavors.

Cost
There are 12 yogurts in the box, with four of each flavor, and the package costs $18.99 Canadian. That works out to about $1.58 per yogurt, which isn’t bad, but it is a bit more expensive than some of the other individually packaged yogurts sold at Costco.

Convenience
The yogurts have a best-before date that’s about three weeks from the date of purchase and need to be kept refrigerated. I know some people like to freeze their yogurt and enjoy it as a frozen treat!

I don’t think most kids would enjoy these yogurts because of the strong artificial sweetener flavor and noticeable aftertaste.
Nutrition
Calories
Mixed Berries
All three flavors of yogurt have the same nutrition facts. One 150 gram container contains 140 calories, three grams of fat, nine grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, four grams of sugar, 20 grams of protein and 35 milligrams of sodium.

Ingredients
The ingredients list is similar for all three flavors. My biggest issue with the ingredients is that I see no mention of strawberry puree, or blueberry puree or natural vanilla to flavor the yogurts. That’s why I think they’re so artificial tasting. I also don’t love that they use additional whey protein and steviol.

Walk on by!
If you’re someone who likes getting protein from yogurt and already has a favorite brand, I’d recommend sticking with that and skipping this Skotidakis Protein Yogurt from Costco.
