Costco Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine Review

I’ve reviewed several Anne’s Table meals from Costco, including the Anne’s Table Kung Pao Chicken and Anne’s Table Chili Con Carne, so I was excited to spot another new offering: Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine. As a fan of Parmesan cheese and someone who doesn’t mind a little spinach, this ready-to-heat-and-eat meal caught my attention, especially for those busy nights when I want something quick and convenient for dinner. But does this Costco prepared meal deliver on taste and convenience? Read on to find out what I thought of Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine!

Location in Store

This is located in the refrigerated section of Costco, near fresh pasta like the Rana French Onion Style Ravioli Bake and the ready to heat meals like the 44th Street Fully Cooked Pork Roast. The item number is 2074295.

Taste

I really enjoyed the taste of Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine! The sauce is rich, thick, and very cheesy, with a strong Parmesan flavor that stands out. There’s also a generous amount of sauce, and you can taste the earthy flavors of both the spinach and mushrooms. I like that the dish isn’t overly salty and that all the individual flavors come through nicely rather than blending into one another.

The chicken seems to be good quality, although I did find it a little on the dry side despite being coated in sauce. It has a slightly processed texture, but not enough to be off-putting. Overall, this is a tasty and satisfying Costco prepared meal with plenty of cheesy Parmesan goodness.

Cost

The one kilogram package contains two 500-gram pouches of Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine and costs $16.99 Canadian. It’s not exactly cheap, but I wouldn’t consider it outrageously overpriced either. I think one pouch is enough to feed two people, while two pouches should be sufficient for a family of four. If you’re looking to stretch the meal a little further, I’d recommend having some rice or pasta on hand to serve alongside it.

Convenience

Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine is an extremely convenient meal that’s basically ready to eat after heating. However, I don’t think it’s quite a complete meal on its own, so I’d recommend having some pasta, rice, cauliflower rice, or quinoa on hand to serve alongside it. A garden salad would also make a nice addition.

The Chicken Spinach Florentine needs to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date on our package was almost two months from the date of purchase, giving it a decent amount of shelf life. I heated mine in the microwave, but you can also prepare it on the stovetop. I don’t think there’s much difference in the overall taste or texture between the two heating methods. Just keep in mind that the package instructions state the meal must be heated to an internal temperature of 75°C (167°F) for one minute before serving.

Nutrition

Calories

A 1/2-cup serving of Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine contains 280 calories, 21 grams of fat, 7 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fibre, 3 grams of sugar, 17 grams of protein, and 360 milligrams of sodium. I like that the sodium and carbohydrate counts are relatively low, leaving you room to add a side of rice or pasta if you’d like a heartier, higher-carb meal. The sugar content is also low, and 17 grams of protein per serving is a nice bonus!

Ingredients

The ingredients list is fairly short and simple, featuring many recognizable, whole ingredients you’d likely use to make a similar dish at home. The only ingredient I’m not particularly fond of seeing is vegetable oil. This meal contains dairy but is both soy-free and gluten-free, which is great for those looking to avoid those ingredients.

Overall

Give it a try!

Overall, Anne’s Table Chicken Spinach Florentine is a pretty tasty and convenient meal, but I wouldn’t consider it a complete meal on its own unless you’re intentionally keeping your carbohydrates low. I think it’s best served with rice or pasta, just as the package suggests. I also appreciate the generous amount of chicken, and the chicken itself seems to be pretty good quality. It’s a convenient option for a quick weeknight dinner when you want something cheesy and easy to prepare.
