Costco Castello Whipped Dip Review

With the holiday season in full swing, Costco has no shortage of appetizers and easy entertaining options. I spotted this Castello Whipped Dip, which comes in two flavors—herb & garlic and cracked pepper and decided to give it a try. This was my first time trying a Castello product, and it didn’t disappoint! Read on to find out what I liked about this whipped dip.

Location in Store

This whipped dip is located in the refrigerated deli section at Costco, near the Kirkland Signature Goat Cheese and the Kirkland Signature Manchego Cheese. The item number is 5055008.

Taste

I tried both dips and enjoyed them both. I think I like the herb & garlic more, but I also enjoyed the cracked pepper. Both dips are smooth, creamy, and flavorful.

The herb & garlic is great if you enjoy garlic—I think the garlic flavour is more pronounced than the herbs. It’s not too salty and is nice and rich.

The cracked pepper is very peppery! You don’t necessarily taste the pepper at first, but it hits after the first bite. It’s very good if you like a little kick!

Cost

There are four 150-gram whipped dips in the pack, and I paid $12.99 Canadian, which seems reasonable to me. It’s nice that there are four smaller dips instead of two big dips because I find I never use up big containers of dip before they go bad.

Convenience

The best-before date on the dip is almost six months from when I purchased it, which seems like a really long time! The dip needs to be kept refrigerated and is a product of Denmark. I served it with crackers, but it would also be great with bread, bagels, chips, or even raw vegetables.

In a two-and-a-half tablespoon serving of both kinds of dip, there are 80 calories, eight grams of fat, one gram of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, and one gram of protein. The only difference in the nutrition facts between the flavours is that the herb & garlic contains 170 milligrams of sodium, and the cracked pepper contains 160 milligrams of sodium.

Ingredients

I like that both flavours of dip have a relatively short and simple ingredient list. There aren’t really any ingredients I have to complain about. This is just a simple cream cheese dip made with whole ingredients. The whipped dip contains milk but is soy- and gluten-free.
