Costco Cuisine Adventures Mini Sausages Review

Pigs in a blanket are a classic holiday appetizer. Their simplicity makes them a hit with both adults and kids, so when I saw these Cuisine Adventures Mini Sausages in Soft Baked Bread at Costco, I picked up a box for the Christmas season. After trying them, would I recommend you do the same? Find out in my review!

Location in Store

These are located in the freezer aisle at Costco, near the Cuisine Adventures Spanakopita and the Cuisine Adventures Beef & Cheese Rolled Tacos. The item number is 618670.

Taste

These mini sausages in soft oven-baked bread are pretty simple, so there isn’t too much to say about them. On their own, they’re a bit bland without any condiments, but they taste much better dipped in mustard.

There’s a lot of bread, so much that my toddler actually pulled most of it off and ate just the sausage part. The sausage is well-seasoned and salty, and it tastes like your standard wiener with no additional flavors or seasonings added. That makes them pretty versatile and likely to be enjoyed by many!

Cost

The 1.18-kilogram box costs $17.99 Canadian and contains four plastic bags. Each bag has 15 mini sausages in soft baked bread, for a total of 60 in the box, so the price seems reasonable to me.

Convenience

The mini sausages need to be kept frozen, and the best before date is about eight months from when I purchased them. They’re great as a snack, appetizer, or lunch. These are way better tasting if you serve them with ketchup or mustard so serve them with a dip!

I think kids would probably enjoy these in their lunches, too. I followed the cooking directions from the box and my mini sausages turned out golden brown and crispy on the outside and the breading was soft on the inside.

Nutrition

Calories

Five mini sausages in bread contain 240 calories, 11 grams of fat, 25 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, four grams of sugar, 11 grams of protein, and 560 milligrams of sodium. These are definitely a little high in fat and sodium, and it’s not hard to eat more than five of the mini sausages!

Ingredients

I don’t expect a product like this to have particularly healthy ingredients. The sausages are made with both pork and chicken and contain nitrites. The mini sausages contain wheat, milk, and soy, and may contain egg. The box claims there are no artificial colors or flavors.

Give it a try!

These aren’t amazingly good or anything special, but they’re a classic, crowd-pleasing appetizer that’s pretty tasty and sure to please many!
