I like trying all kinds of products from Costco for the blog, but when it comes to my own personal shopping, I usually aim to buy healthier options. That’s why I was immediately drawn to this new Farm Girl Cinnamon Crisps Cereal at Costco because it’s low in sugar, high in protein, and made without seed oils. Of course, we all know that products marketed as healthier don’t always taste great, so read on to find out what I thought of Farm Girl Cereal!

Location in Store
I found this in the cereal/jam/nut butter aisle at Costco, near the innofoods Keto Granola and the Kirkland Signature Nature’s Path Ancient Grains Granola. The item number is 1976710.
Taste
When you open the bag, the cereal smells more like apple cinnamon than just cinnamon to me. The cereal is very crunchy, has a bit of an earthy aftertaste, and is also quite sweet. There’s a definite artificial sweetener flavor, so if you’re not used to that taste, you may be turned off by it.

I find the flavor isn’t very strongly cinnamon, it’s more just sweet. What I like about this cereal is that it has a great crunch, is fairly flavorful, and is made with solid ingredients. It’s great as a dry snack.

Cost
The bag costs $12.99 CAD, which may seem like a lot for cereal, but I did some research and found that if you buy Farm Girl Cereal online or from a local grocery store, you’d pay about the same price for a smaller bag. That makes the Costco price seem very reasonable.

Convenience
The bag is resealable and has a best-before date that’s almost two years from when I purchased it, which seems really long! This cereal can be enjoyed the classic way with milk, but I prefer it as a small, crunchy snack on its own. It would also be really good with yogurt and fruit.

Nutrition
Calories
One cup of Cinnamon Crisps contains 160 calories, three grams of fat, 21 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, zero grams of sugar, zero grams of sugar alcohols, 13 grams of protein, and 150 milligrams of sodium. That’s quite a bit of protein for a cereal, and I appreciate that there’s no sugar or sugar alcohols.

Ingredients
The Farm Girl cereal is gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, and seed oil–free. It contains avocado oil, which I appreciate, as well as plant-based protein like faba protein. The only ingredient I don’t really love seeing is natural flavors. If you’re allergic to nuts, note that this cereal may contain tree nuts.

Overall
Give it a try!
I like this cereal as a healthy snack; I just grab a handful when I’m craving something sweet and crunchy! It’s not the most amazing thing I’ve ever tasted, but it feels guilt-free, and I really enjoy the texture.
