Hot honey is all the rage right now — the sweet and spicy condiment works on pizza, as a dipping sauce for meat, or as a marinade. This Kinder’s Honey Hot BBQ Sauce from Costco seemed like the perfect addition to our summer barbecuing, so I picked up a bottle to try. I feared it might be too hot to handle, but was pleasantly surprised by its subtle heat.
Location in Store
This is located in the aisle with the seasonings and sauces at Costco. Near the Kinder’s The Chicken Sauce Dipping Sauce and the Rao’s Homemade Marinara Sauce. The item number is 1747225.
Taste
I was a bit worried that this would be really spicy because it’s called “honey hot barbecue sauce,” but the heat is actually pretty mild! You don’t taste any spice right away, but it lingers and hits after a moment on your tongue.
This is definitely a sweet barbecue sauce — you taste mostly the sweetness first, then the heat. I also think this is a pretty salty barbecue sauce. There isn’t too much of a smoky flavor to this barbecue sauce either, and I wish it had a bit more smokiness.
Cost
The 598-milliliter bottle costs $9.49 Canadian, which I think is pretty reasonable for a large bottle. You can obviously get cheaper options, but they may not taste as good.
Convenience
The best-before date is a full two years from the month I bought it. The label recommends refrigerating after opening, and I suggest trying it as a dipping sauce for the Kirkland Signature Lightly Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks.
You could also use this sauce for grilling chicken or pork chops, and it would be great on pulled chicken or pulled pork as well.

Ingredients
The ingredients list is pretty straightforward, with your typical barbecue sauce ingredients. The ones I don’t love seeing are sugar, cultured dextrose, and natural flavor. The barbecue sauce contains mustard but is gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free.

Overall
Give it a try!
I like this barbecue sauce — I think it’s really versatile, and I love that it has a little bit of heat while still being mild.
