Location in Store

This is located in the refrigerated deli section, near the Kirkland Signature Mushroom Soup and the Kirkland Signature Tom Yum Soup. The item number is 18584.

Taste

The Kirkland Signature Pork Belly Ramen broth has a salty, mild soy sauce flavor with a subtle hint of ginger. The noodles are good and have a fairly plain taste, allowing the broth to be the star of the dish. The soy-marinated egg definitely delivers on the soy flavor and is cooked to a medium-hard-boiled consistency. The pork belly is tasty and reasonably tender, with some pieces being fattier than others, but it isn’t overly chewy.

The mushrooms add a nice bit of texture, too. Overall, the flavors are fairly mild, with salt and soy sauce being the dominant tastes. It’s an enjoyable bowl of ramen that I think most people would like, especially if they enjoy classic soy-based ramen flavors.

Cost

The price of Costco Kirkland Signature Pork Belly Ramen is based on the weight of the container you purchase. It is priced at $12.99 per kilogram, so the final cost will vary depending on the size of the container. My container weighed 1.710 kg, which came to $22.21.

That’s definitely not cheap for a container of ramen soup! However, there is a decent amount of food included. I think one container could comfortably serve three adults as a dinner-sized meal or two adults and two children. While the upfront cost might seem a little high for ramen, it could be a reasonable option for a family meal, depending on how many people you’re serving.

Convenience

The kit contains soy marinated medium boiled eggs, pork belly, broth, noodles and green onions. After reading the instructions on the pork belly ramen I thought it seemed like a bit of work to boil the noodles and the broth but it really wasn’t much effort! You heat the broth and then add the noodles, egg and pork belly into the soup bowls filled with broth.

After reading the preparation instructions for the Costco Kirkland Signature Pork Belly Ramen, I initially thought it sounded like a bit of work to heat the broth and cook the noodles. However, it was actually very easy and required minimal effort!

You simply heat the broth, cook the noodles, and then add the noodles, egg, and pork belly to individual soup bowls filled with the hot broth. It’s a fairly simple process, and you’ll have a delicious-looking bowl of ramen ready to enjoy without much fuss.

The best-before date on my container was just three days after purchase, so this isn’t something I’d recommend buying too far in advance. I also wouldn’t recommend freezing it. I’d suggest enjoying the Costco pork belly ramen as soon as possible while it’s fresh.

As for serving suggestions, this ramen is essentially a complete meal on its own, so you really don’t need to serve it with anything else. However, I’d probably pair it with a simple green salad to add some extra vegetables and freshness to the meal.

Nutrition

Calories

I’ve reached out to Costco to request the nutritional information for the Kirkland Signature Pork Belly Ramen, but I haven’t received it yet. As soon as I get the nutrition facts, I’ll update this review and share them here!

In the meantime, I would guess that this pork belly ramen is fairly high in sodium and fat and probably isn’t particularly low in calories. Between the pork belly, noodles, and broth, I wouldn’t expect this to be the lightest meal option. I’ll reserve final judgment until I have the actual nutritional information to share.

Ingredients

I was actually surprised by some of the ingredients listed in the Costco Kirkland Signature Pork Belly Ramen. A few ingredients that caught my attention were tartrazine, silica, sugar, and fructose. These are ingredients I wasn’t necessarily expecting to find in a prepared pork belly ramen meal.

It’s also important to note that this ramen is not gluten-free. The ingredient and allergen information lists soy, wheat, and sesame. The product may also contain milk, fish, molluscs, crustaceans, tree nuts, peanuts, and mustard. If you have food allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions, make sure you carefully read the packaging before purchasing or eating this ramen.

Overall

Give it a try!

I’d give the Costco Kirkland Signature Pork Belly Ramen an 8/10. Overall, I thought it was pretty good! The eggs were cooked nicely, and I really enjoyed the flavor of the broth. My biggest complaint was how fatty the pork belly was.

That said, I recognize that pork belly is naturally a fatty cut of meat, so this really comes down to personal preference. I’m just not someone who particularly enjoys fatty meats. Despite that, I enjoyed the ramen overall and would consider it a decent prepared meal option from Costco. If you enjoy pork belly and flavorful ramen, this might be worth trying!

  1. It’s probably best to toss that salt-loaded broth and replace it with low-salt broth for a low-salt option.

When a local ramen restaurant started to package and sell some of its products in places like Walmart, it listed 3500mg of salt in its dish. It was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Mind you, I didn’t want to, either, but I had to try it. I never bought it again.
