Costco Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Cheesecake Review

Costco is famous for its ridiculously cheap yet surprisingly tasty pumpkin pie, and now they’ve added another pumpkin treat to their bakery lineup just in time for Thanksgiving, the Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Cheesecake. I couldn’t resist picking one up, hoping it would blend the tangy, creamy richness of cheesecake with the warm, comforting flavors of pumpkin. Did it live up to my expectations? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

This is located in the refrigerated bakery section at Costco, near the Kirkland Signature Tiramisu Scoop Cake and the Kirkland Signature Tuxedo Cake. The item number is 1973655.

Taste

I like both cheesecake and pumpkin, so I thought I’d really enjoy this, but I was left feeling a bit disappointed after trying it. It’s not horrible, just not as amazing as I hoped. The dominant flavor is definitely cheesecake, with a hint of artificial pumpkin.

It’s not too sweet, and the tanginess of the cream cheese really stands out. The frosting on top is a mild cinnamon icing that isn’t overly sweet either. The cheesecake itself has a soft texture, sitting on top of a tender graham cracker crust.

The pumpkin flavor is very subtle, so if you’re worried about it being too pumpkin-y, you’ll mostly taste the cheesecake. I didn’t mind a few bites, but overall, I’d rather stick with Costco’s pumpkin pie.

Cost

The cheesecake costs $22.99 and serves about 12 people a decent-sized slice. It’s quite a bit more expensive than Costco’s pumpkin pie, and honestly, I wouldn’t say it tastes any better. The pumpkin pie is definitely the better deal, but it’s still nice to switch things up and try something new once in a while.

Convenience

The cheesecake has scoring on top so you know where to slice it into 12 even pieces. It needs to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date is five days from when I purchased it. You could probably freeze it if you don’t finish it before then.

I really like the idea of a pumpkin cheesecake, it’s a bit more unique and less common — so if it tasted just a little better, I’d happily pick it up to serve as a Thanksgiving dessert! It could also be a great option if you’re hosting guests who don’t like pie. However, if I knew I had people coming for Thanksgiving who don’t enjoy pumpkin pie, I’d probably go with the Tuxedo Cake instead.

Calories

I don’t have the exact nutrition facts yet, but I’ll be updating this post with them soon. I just wanted to share my review of the pumpkin cheesecake right after trying it so readers could get an early look.

Ingredients

The ingredients list includes everything you’d expect to find in a store-bought, mass-produced pumpkin cheesecake. I do appreciate that pumpkin is listed as an actual ingredient. Of course, there are quite a few unhealthy ingredients I’m not thrilled to see, like carrageenan, palm oil, soy oil, additives, and other chemicals. The cheesecake contains milk, wheat, barley, egg, and soy, and may contain tree nuts, peanuts, sesame, triticale, oats, and rye.

I can’t say I loved this enough to want another slice or to want to buy it again. I prefer the pumpkin pie from Costco and will stick to that!
