Costco Lay’s Turkey Dinner Potato Chips Review

I’ve tried all the usual potato chip flavors, but I’ve never seen anything as unique as these Lay’s Turkey Dinner Potato Chips from Costco! They seem like the perfect snack to have on hand during the holiday season, after all, who doesn’t love the flavors of Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner? But do they actually taste like a turkey dinner? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

These are located in the chip aisle at Costco. Near the Kirkland Signature Corn Chip Dippers and the Snack Factory Pretzel Crisps. The item number is 4160019.

Taste

The first thing I noticed about these chips is how salty they are, they’re definitely heavily seasoned. The flavor actually does remind me of turkey gravy, or, if you’ve ever been to the restaurant Swiss Chalet, the taste is reminiscent of their chicken sauce.

There’s also quite a bit of pepper, which might make them a bit too peppery for some people. They have a hint of heat that I think comes from the pepper. The flavor of these turkey dinner chips is also somewhat similar to barbecue chips, in my opinion. I like them, but I don’t love them. A few were all I wanted, and I didn’t feel the urge to have more.

Cost

The 585-gram bag costs $7.49 Canadian at Costco, which isn’t too expensive considering it’s a pretty huge bag of chips. Chips are definitely not as cheap as they used to be, so the cost of this bag doesn’t seem too outrageous.

Convenience

The bag doesn’t reseal after opening, so I recommend closing it with a clothespin or storing the chips in a Ziplock bag. The best-before date is less than eight weeks from when I purchased them, so it’s best to eat them quickly. These chips are perfect for a party or potluck, or just to have around the house during Christmas.

Nutrition

Calories

Forty-four chips contain 270 calories, 17 grams of fat, 28 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, three grams of protein, and 250 milligrams of sodium. The nutrition facts are pretty typical for chips. I’m actually surprised the sodium isn’t higher after tasting them.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is something I wish I hadn’t looked at! These chips are full of unhealthy ingredients like vegetable oil, MSG, corn and soy protein, glucose solids, and natural flavor. They also contain soy and milk.

Overall

Give it a try!

These chips are okay, they’re unique and fun to try during the holiday season, but they’re not my favorite. I know a lot of people really enjoy them, though!
