I always try to prioritize eating healthy and clean—even when it comes to sweet treats. I’ve ordered Mid-Day Squares before, so I was thrilled to spot them at Costco. I genuinely appreciate their use of simple, whole ingredients. But while the ingredient list is near perfect, how’s the flavor? Let’s find out!
Location in Store
These are conspicuously located in the refrigerated deli section at Costco. They’re near the Summ! Apple Pie Rolls and the Dessert Factory Brookie. The item number is 1873581.
Taste
I tried both kinds and I’m going to share my notes about each flavor!
Peanut Butter
These are absolutely delicious and so satisfying. There’s just a hint of peanut butter, you mainly taste dark chocolate but the dark chocolate is super tasty. The slight peanut butter flavor pairs so well with the dark chocolate. They’re sweet but not super sweet, just sweet enough to ward off any sweet cravings.
Cookie Dough
I don’t like the cookie dough square as much as I like the peanut butter one. It’s a but chalky and dry but still pretty tasty. The chocolate is mainly what you taste and it’s really good. The cookie dough is just okay, not amazing, but it does resemble real cookie dough!
Cost
These aren’t cheap but they’re a lot cheaper at Costco than ordering them online. There are six peanut butter Mid-Day Squares and six cookie dough squares for a total of 12 squares and the pack costs $19.99 Canadian. That’s over a dollar per square but they’re worth it in my opinion.
Convenience
The squares need to be kept refrigerated and the best before date is about three months from when I purchased them. Each square is individually packaged so you can conveniently pop them into your lunch, gym bag or purse!

One 33 gram square contains 170 calories, 13 grams of fat, 11 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, four grams of sugar, six grams of protein and 60 milligrams of sodium. The calories and fat may seem high for such a small bar but the sugar is low and the protein is decent!
Cookie Dough
One 33 gram square contains 170 calories, 13 grams of fat, 11 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, five grams of sugar, six grams of protein and 60 milligrams of sodium.
Ingredients
The ingredients are the main reason I love Mid-Day Squares so much. They’re gluten-free, dairy-free, Non-GMO and kosher.
The sweeteners used are all natural sweeteners like maple syrup and even prune juice concentrate! I love that they contain apple cider vinegar and olive oil as well.

Must buy!
I absolutely love these and bought two boxes because I’m worried Costco will get rid of them.

What does eating “clean” actually mean? I’ve been noticing its use a lot lately and feel like it’s become a real buzz word without much clarity. To me the implication seems to be that if you’re not eating clean then you must be eating dirty and somehow I don’t think that’s the intention?
Since many of us are now trying to focus on buying Canadian, would it be possible for you to put where items are made / from in your reviews? Thank you.
Yes! These are Canadian
