Hey gluten-free/celiac friends. This review might interest you. I’ve recently been trying to review more gluten free food from Costco so I picked up this Sabatasso’s Gluten-Free Four Cheese Pizza from Costco.

Location in Store

This can be found in the freezer section at Costco, by all the other pizzas and the item number is 301572.

Taste

I’m a lover of all things containing gluten but I have to say, this pizza was actually really decent tasting. I’m pretty sure there’s cheese in the actual crust which completely eliminates any unpleasant flavor you think might come from the gluten-free crust. If I didn’t know this was gluten-free I wouldn’t be able to tell.

Both my husband and I agreed there’s not really a lot of sauce on the pizza so I’d definitely wish for extra sauce. The cheese is really good and the crust isn’t bad at all, it’s a thin and crispy crust but not super thin.

I like a lot of toppings on my pizza so added my own toppings on my second pizza from the box and that really added to the flavor. This definitely tastes like a frozen plain cheese pizza but it’s still tasty and for being gluten free I was impressed.

Cost

I paid $14.99 Canadian for the 992 gram box of two four cheese gluten-free pizzas. Gluten-free products are always more expensive so $14.99 doesn’t seem too bad for the Sabatasso’s Gluten-Free Four Cheese Pizza.

Convenience

An easy and convenient dinner or lunch or maybe even breakfast if you’re that kind of person! All you do is pop the frozen pizza on your oven rack at 450 degrees farenheit for 12 to 16 minutes.

I like a crispy crust so I followed the directions that say to place the pizza directly on the rack and I got a beautiful golden, crispy crust after baking it in the oven for about 15 minutes.

If plain cheese pizza isn’t your thing but you’re looking for gluten-free than you can definitely add your own toppings to this and bake it! Mushrooms, pepperoni, peppers, ham, pineapple. Whatever you want. The best before date is about eight months from the date I purchased the pizza.

Nutrition

There’s actually five kinds of cheese on the ingredients list mozarella, asiago, fontina, parmesan and romano. 1/4 of the pizza is 330 calories, 15 grams of fat, 670 mg of sodium, 36 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, seven grams of sugar and 12 grams of protein.

I could easily eat 1/2 a pizza for dinner or more so definitely not the healthiest option I could have for dinner.

If you have a cheese pizza loving gluten-free kid I would definitely pick this up for them to try at Costco. My refined taste buds can tell this is frozen pizza that’s lacking in sauce and extra toppings but it’s simple and cheesy and still tasty enough.

Taste: 7.5/10

Cost: 8/10

Convenience: 9/10

Nutrition: 2.5/10

    • I’ve been buying these for several years and they are my favorite gf pizza but Costco doesn’t carry them all of the time now. They need to stock these all of the time so those of us with celiac can enjoy pizza nights too. Costco, PLEASE keep these in stock. Fingers crossed 🤞

  2. I purchased this pizza on February 2, 2023, in Missouri, so I’m pretty sure Costco is stocking it again. I don’t care about gluten, but the sample at my store sold me instantly. It reminds of Show Biz cheese pizza from when I was a kid.

I baked it at 450° for 12 minutes, and it’s perfect. You must place it on the rack or use a mesh pizza pan, which I did. The directions don’t say to use a pizza stone, which gets much hotter, so that will probably burn it.

  3. Not anymore!!! Sadly this pizza seems to have been pulled from the shelves and we are sooooo disappointed! They did not replace it with another gf cheese pizza. But they offer two brands of veggie gf pizza which my family will not eat.

  4. This was my first Sabatasso’s Gluten free pizza, purchased at Costco. I heated my oven to 450 degrees, put the pizza on a pizza stone, and set my timer for 12 minutes. It was black. Next one 9 minutes, I could eat about half of it. (Some burned). next one was baked for about 7 minutes. I finally got 1 delicious gluten free pizza. These directions don’t work at all. The pizza was good, but it was expensive for 1 good pizza.

  9. They still carry this in Canadian Costcos and thank goodness!

It’s a great base for other toppings and tastes best if you cook it on a pizza stone.

Even “normal” people will eat it lol!

    • I’m not even gluten sensitive and I buy this all the time!
Aldi has a turkey pepperoni that works great on this pizza, if you’re looking to mitigate the less than stellar nutrition content 🙂

  10. The best gluten-free pizzas I’ve found. You can add any toppings and sometimes I sprinkle a bit of grated old cheddar after the toppings.

  11. I’ve been eating these with GF pepperoni for several years. They are the best that I’ve tasted and I’ve tried a lot of different brands. My Costco stopped carrying these a few months ago and I am bummed. The pizza they have to replace it is cauliflower with veggies on it and it is nowhere near as good. I wish I could find out where I can find this near me.

    • I know! I am totally bummed that Costco is no longer carrying them. None of the other pizzas that are gluten-free come anywhere close. I am jonesing for my Sabatassos gluten-free pizza!

  12. This pizza is a staple in my freezer. That said, if I had never tried this pizza before after tonight I would never eat it again! The crust was so hard we could not get the pizza cutter through it. We cooked it exactly the same way we always do and it was terrible. I hope I just got a defective product.

    • My favorite gluten-free pizza by far. I’m sorry you’re crust was so hard, it sounds like it might have been freezer burned. Even bread with gluten, cake, and other things will do that if it has freezer burn.

  13. Wow! Just WOW!
So many rave reviews made me a bit suspicious so I focused on the negative ones which might have set my expectations low. But the crispy crust, the cheese blend, and the sauce blow all other frozen pizzas out of the water — and we’ve tried a lot of brands.

The Gluten Free feature isn’t even a consideration. They’re pricey, but they’re worth it. Takeout pizza will still have a place (different than any frozen product) but it won’t be as frequent in the rotation now.
Looking forward to trying them with our own added toppings. Let’s hope Costco keeps these in their product lineup.

  14. This pizza is terrific – easily the best frozen I’ve ever tried (gluten or not) and quite frankly even better than some pizza places. Cheese is very tasty and crust crisps without being too thin. And price is even better than other GF offerings

  15. Sabatosso’s is actually made by Schwann’s so now that Costco is not carrying them anymore – if you order $49.99 or more in your Schwann’s order (just 4 boxes) delivery is free. Getting my order this Friday – Yeah!

  17. Sabatasso’s gluten free four cheese pizza is in our familys opinion the best pizza money can buy gluten free or not! I can almost guarantee you’ll love their four cheese Pizza plain or with your favorite toppings! Either way Sabatasso’s has the pizza world’s recipe equivalent of a World Series game 7 winning grand slam! We served them to neighbors who latter asked where we ordered those wonderful pizzas from, no one ever believes they’re gluten free! My personal favorite topping mix is also popular with guest! Top the pizza with fresh Spinach leafs, thinly sliced Sweet Onion, Freshly Sliced Baby Bella Mushrooms, fresh Jalapenos seeded and diced, then last but not least several thin slices of Imported Stick Pepperoni! Slide it into your preheated 450 degree oven, set the timer for 14 minutes and relax, once the timer goes off take a quick reasuring look at your soon to be masterpiece! Now turn your broiler to high, check again after the first minute goes by, then every thirty seconds until you’re 100% sure you’re looking at pizza perfection! Remove the pizza giving it a few minutes to release some of the steam coming off the vegetables before slicing! If you’re having someone new over try picking up a few pizza boxes for presentation, serve them with an Olive Garden style salad, then sit back and watch their reactions! Bon Appétit!

  18. This basic pizza is fantastic, and pizza is not my favourite food! To be honest, I’m trying to stay away from gluten and decided to pick this up while on sale at my local Costco, but thought it wouldn’t likely be that tasty, was I ever wrong. I usually add toppings to any frozen pizzas we purchase, and I did the same this time. The crust is crispy and not overly thick, it has great tasting sauce and a good amount of cheese. Do not let the “Gluten Free” label keep you from trying it, you won’t be disappointed! I hope Costco will continue to carry it! Love it, 2 thumbs up!

    • Sadly my Oregon Costco has not stocked this product for the last month. For me, it is the best frozen pizza. Will miss it as I have no other retailers that offer it.
