The Taylor Farms Baja Chopped Salad Kit is one of my go-to picks from Costco. It’s great as a side, but it also makes an incredible taco salad. Unfortunately, there’s one key ingredient that can be a dealbreaker for some people. Curious what it is? Read on to find out!
Location in Store
This is located in the refrigerated produce room at Costco. Near the Sweet Kale Salad Kit and the Taylor Farms Dill Pickle Salad Kit. The item number is 1392373.
Taste
This salad features romaine lettuce, cilantro, green cabbage, carrots, pumpkin seeds, tortilla strips, and a creamy avocado-cilantro dressing. It’s crisp and refreshing, with a subtle hint of cilantro that enhances the flavor of the vegetable blend. That said, I understand that many people aren’t fans of cilantro’s distinct taste.
The pumpkin seeds add an extra layer of crunch, while the tortilla strips bring a touch of saltiness. The highlight of the salad is definitely the dressing—a flavorful cilantro vinaigrette that pairs perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. It’s not spicy and is quite versatile, so you can easily customize the salad by adding other ingredients of your choice.
Cost
One of these salad kits costs $7 at my local grocery store, but at Costco, I can get a two-pack (357 grams each) for just $7.99 Canadian. That works out to only $4 per kit—a great deal for the quality and quantity you get.
Convenience
The Baja Salad Kit should be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date is typically about a week from the day of purchase. It’s delicious on its own, but I also like to turn it into a taco salad by adding ground turkey seasoned with taco spices, along with black beans and corn.
If you want to bulk up the salad with extra vegetables, try adding bell peppers, celery, tomatoes, or cucumber—that’s my go-to combination!
Nutrition
Calories
One cup of the salad kit contains 150 calories, 12 grams of fat, 9 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 3 grams of sugar, 4 grams of protein, and 160 milligrams of sodium. It’s actually quite reasonable nutrition-wise—especially if you go light on the dressing.
Ingredients
The Baja Salad at Costco is packed with nutritious vegetables. While the dressing does contain some vegetable oil and added sugar—which I’m not a huge fan of—the rest of the ingredients are fairly wholesome. It’s a great option for those following a gluten-free diet, though it’s worth noting that the dressing contains milk and egg.

Give it a try!
This is one of my favorite salad kits to pick up from Costco. I wouldn’t call it a “must-buy,” though, since I know the inclusion of cilantro can be a dealbreaker for some people.

One of my favourite salad kits, but I’m a cilantro fan. I love the dressing. Wish I could buy that separately too.
Sadly from USA – so will not purchase. Most of their bagged salads are!
Same here. Trying to buy as much as possible from Canadian sources.
J’adore ce kit de salade.
Mais je me la question à savoir si je dois la laver.
This is probably my favourite salad kit!! It’s about $3.79 out in BC and it’s great with peppers, a bit of old cheese, some avocado, spinach, and grilled chicken.
Est-ce que vous lavez la salade avant consommation?
Merci
Non, c’est déjà bien lavé.
