Costco Trident Alaska Salmon Burgers Review

For those who love Alaskan salmon but want to enjoy it in patty form, there are Trident Alaska Salmon Burgers from Costco. They’re wild-caught in Alaska and made from whole salmon fillets. I enjoy salmon, so I thought I’d give these a try. Are they good enough to repurchase? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

These salmon burgers are located in the freezer section at Costco, near the Dom Reserve Singles Steelhead Salmon and the Kirkland Signature Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon. The item number is 28752.

Taste

These burgers are just okay; I probably wouldn’t buy them again. The salmon has a slightly fishy taste but is well seasoned, and the texture is fairly firm. Salmon is usually very moist, but I find these burgers a bit dry.

The burgers taste like canned salmon that’s been formed into a patty. The main seasoning I notice is garlic, and the burgers aren’t too salty. They don’t require any additional seasoning. I had the salmon burgers with steamed broccoli and rice, but I think they would taste better in a bun with lettuce, mayo, and tomato.

Cost

In 2020, a bag of 12 salmon burgers cost $19.99 Canadian. In 2026, the 1.36-kilogram bag containing 12 salmon burgers costs $29.99 Canadian. The price has increased quite a bit over six years. You’re now paying about $2.50 per burger.

Convenience

There are air fryer, pan-fry, and grill or barbecue cooking instructions on the back of the bag. I used the pan-fry method to cook my burger, and it turned out fine. If it were summer, I’d use our barbecue. The burgers need to be kept frozen and come in a convenient resealable bag.

The best-before date listed on my bag of burgers is about eight months from when I purchased them. To keep your meal low in carbs, you can have these without a bun and serve them with a side salad or some rice and vegetables. I think they’d work well in a bun with lettuce, tomato, and mayo, though.

Nutrition

Calories

One salmon burger contains 170 calories, nine grams of fat, two grams of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre and sugar, 20 grams of protein, and 330 milligrams of sodium. Salmon is naturally high in fat and has a decent amount of protein.

Ingredients

I don’t love that the second ingredient is soybean/canola oil after salmon; I wish they used a healthier oil like olive oil or avocado oil. The rest of the ingredients are seasonings and colour. The salmon burgers are gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free.

Overall

Give it a try!

These are just okay. If you’re someone who really enjoys salmon, I’d probably stick to buying salmon fillets instead of these salmon burgers.

  1. These are really great in a pinch. I often pan fry them in olive oil with onion and bell peppers, then chop them up to add with a quick Alfredo sauce and noodles (broccoli too or whatever veggies I have on hand). They do not always need to be served as a patty. I also enjoy them cold and chopped up the next day from leftover patties on a salad. If you are looking for convenience and good taste, these salmon patties are worth it.

  2. Quite possibly the worst tasting product I ever purchased from Costco. The fishy taste was prevalent throughout the burger. I pan fried and tried one as an ingredient in eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce. Just meals I’m trying to forget.

  3. I was looking for a way to counteract the utterly overly salted salmon burgers… did you see the sodium content 1/2 a normal person’s recommended amt( 2 burgers) I will never buy these again the salt overwhelms and good flavor

  4. i bought & made this salmon burger last night…not impressed. i cooked it in my toaster over per instructions….my mother made salmon patties from canned salmon my entire life & they were delicious, & i have made them from canned & fresh salmon…those are real salmon burgers, patties, cakes whatever you call them. no comparisons at all, i will return to costco tomorrow…so disappointed. i do love trident fish sticks though..

  5. Amazing and delicious food is readily available if you know where to look. Obviously, it would be silly for me to tell you about every amazing and delicious food in existence — otherwise, this article would never end — but that doesn’t mean I can’t share a few of my favorites.

  6. I really like these salmon patties. The author is right—they don’t taste fishy at all. I usually sauté these with bell pepper and onion strips in a little olive oil. I’ve also served them on a bun with Dijon mustard, mayo, lettuce and tomato. They make a quick, delicious, healthy meal—highly recommend them.

  7. The Costco in Rockland County, NY no longer carries Bear and Wolf Pink Salmon. I love this stuff! It also does not contain soy, which I am unable to eat.
Any ideas where I may find Bear and Wolf pink salmon?
