Costco Kirkland Signature Peach Mango Coconut Loaf Review

Costco has offered a variety of loaf flavors in the past, including apple fritter, banana pecan, lemon blueberry, and lemon poppy seed. Their latest addition is the Kirkland Signature Peach Mango Coconut Loaf. I picked one up expecting a sweet cake bursting with tropical flavors, but unfortunately, I found the taste fell a bit flat.

Location in Store

The Kirkland Signature Peach Mango Coconut Loaf is located in the bakery section at Costco. Near the muffins and the variety mini donuts. The item number is 1950593.

Taste

I was hoping for a truly tropical, fruity-tasting loaf, but I was a bit disappointed. There isn’t much flavor overall. The flavor that is present is mostly sweet and reminds me of a lemon loaf.

There are some chunks of fruit that I think are peach, but to me, they taste more like apricot. There are also noticeable pieces of toasted coconut, which I enjoy because I love coconut. It’s one of the best parts of the loaf.

The glaze on top doesn’t have much flavor—it just tastes like a standard confectioners’ sugar glaze. The texture of the loaf is moist and dense, yet still a bit crumbly. I can’t say this is my favorite loaf from Costco.

Cost

The large loaf costs $10.99 CAD, which isn’t bad considering it’s quite dense and can be cut into 12 decent-sized slices!

Convenience

The best-before date on the loaf is five days from the packaging date. If you don’t plan to finish it by then, you could easily freeze the whole loaf or individual slices.

This loaf is great as a breakfast item with a cup of coffee or tea, as a snack, or even as a dessert. If you’re having it for dessert, I think it would taste excellent served with a bit of ice cream.

Nutrition

Calories

One twenty-first of the loaf contains 200 calories, 9 grams of fat, 27 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fibre, 16 grams of sugar, 2 grams of protein, and 240 milligrams of sodium. I imagine that 1/21 of the loaf is a fairly small slice, and most people would likely eat a larger portion—meaning the actual intake of calories, fat, carbs, and sugar would be significantly higher.

Ingredients

The ingredients list includes several less-than-ideal components I’m not thrilled to see, such as soya oil, canola oil, modified palm and palm kernel oils, and artificial flavor. That’s not too surprising, though, considering this is a mass-produced, store-bought bakery item. The loaf contains egg, milk, and wheat, and may also contain tree nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame, barley, oats, rye, triticale, and mustard.

Overall

Give it a try!

This loaf is tasty enough, but it’s not my favorite. It mostly just tastes like a sweet cake without much distinctive flavor, and I was hoping for a lot more tropical fruitiness.

  1. Hi Natalie, I also bought this loaf about 3 weeks ago at my local costco also thinking it would be so yummy and tropical tasting but I didn’t care for it at all and neither did my husband so I froze it .. I ended up eating only 2 pieces from it and I put yogurt on mine to try to make it more palatable. If your tried yours and reviewed it before I bought mine then I would not have bought it. Lol
Like I told you before I appreciate all your reviews so keep them coming.
