Costco Drizzle Carrot Cake Heavenly Hunks Review

I previously reviewed the Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Heavenly Hunks from Costco and loved them, so I couldn’t resist picking up a bag of these new Drizzle Carrot Cake Heavenly Hunks. I’m a big fan of carrot cake, and I also appreciate that these are both gluten-free and vegan, so I couldn’t wait to give them a try. Were they worth picking up? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

These are located in the bakery section of my Costco, near the Nonni’s Biscotti Bites and the Desserts on Us Laceys Cookies. The item number is 1769441.

Taste

I had really high hopes for this flavor of Heavenly Hunks and was convinced they were going to be amazing, but I was left totally disappointed after trying them. The flavor doesn’t taste like carrot cake at all.

To me, they actually taste a bit like soap or perfume. There’s a very strange carrot flavor that, after a few more bites, starts to resemble a pumpkin-spice–scented candle.

The texture of the Heavenly Hunks is also quite hard and chewy because of the oats. The icing on top has a waxy texture and flavor as well.

Cost

The 510-gram bag of Heavenly Hunks costs $11.99 CAD at Costco, which seems reasonable. They’re not exactly cheap, but they’re not overly expensive either.

Convenience

These carrot cake Heavenly Hunks come in a resealable bag with a best-before date about nine months from when I purchased them. From my past experience and from what others have shared, they can go stale fairly quickly and develop mold, so I recommend storing them in the refrigerator once opened. They make a quick and easy sweet snack for mid-morning or the afternoon, and they can also be enjoyed as a dessert.

Nutrition

Calories

One hunk contains 120 calories, six grams of fat, 17 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, six grams of sugar, one gram of protein, and 60 milligrams of sodium. I like that each hunk has less than 10 grams of sugar and only 120 calories!

Ingredients

Although Heavenly Hunks are gluten-free and vegan, that doesn’t necessarily make them healthy. Sugar is the second ingredient listed, and they also contain palm oil, which I’m not a fan of. While nuts are not listed as an ingredient, the product may still contain tree nuts.

These aren’t tasty at all in my opinion and I think I’m going to struggle to finish the bag.
