Costco Earls Alfredo Sauce Review

I was recently craving some restaurant-quality fettuccine Alfredo from the comfort of my own home, so I picked up this new Earls Alfredo Sauce I spotted at Costco. I was hoping for a rich, cheesy, creamy, and flavorful sauce, but unfortunately, after trying it, I was disappointed. Find out why by reading my review below!

Location in Store

I found this in the refrigerated deli section of Costco, near the Kirkland Signature Chicken Tortilla Soup and the Kirkland Signature Broccoli Cheddar Soup. The item number is 1847431.

Taste

Both my parents and I, as well as my toddler, tried this Alfredo sauce, and nobody enjoyed it much. It’s extremely bland, and there isn’t much cheese flavor at all. It tastes like plain cream on pasta.

The only flavor that’s somewhat noticeable is the garlic, and it’s not even salty. The texture of the sauce also became very thin once it was heated. Overall, this Alfredo sauce is really underwhelming.

Cost

This comes in a two-pack that costs $15.99 Canadian, and each pack contains 550 milliliters of Alfredo sauce. After trying the sauce, I’d say this is way overpriced, and you’re just paying for the Earls brand name.

Convenience

The sauce needs to be kept refrigerated and has a best-before date that’s about a month from when I purchased it. I think the sauce would freeze fine if you’re not going to use it by the best-before date.

You could use this sauce to make penne chicken Alfredo or fettuccine Alfredo at home. I guess you could also try using it as a pizza sauce, but I think it’s too thin and would probably run off the pizza as it cooks in the oven.

Nutrition

Calories

A 1/2-cup serving contains 390 calories, 39 grams of fat, seven grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, four grams of sugar, four grams of protein, and 480 milligrams of sodium. That’s too many calories and too much fat for a pretty tasteless sauce, in my opinion.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is pretty short, with the typical ingredients you’d find in Alfredo sauce, like cream, butter, and Parmesan cheese. What I don’t love seeing are vegetable oil and carrageenan. The Alfredo sauce contains milk, egg, and mustard; it does not contain soy or gluten.

Overall

Walk on by!

This sauce has no flavor; there are far less expensive, better Alfredo sauce options out there.
