Costco Fresh n’ Pure Guava Juice Review

Whether enjoyed chilled on a hot summer day or used as a versatile ingredient in cocktails and mocktails guava juice offers a taste of the tropics. While Costco Fresh n’ Pure Guava Juice may appear enticing on the surface, will those seeking a truly refreshing fruit juice experience find themselves seeking alternatives that offer a less sweet and tangy flavor?

I like trying unique products at Costco that I haven’t really tried before and although I’ve had guava fruit before and juice with guava in it, I’ve never had guava juice on it’s own in the past! I picked up his Fresh n’ Pure Guava Juice from Costco to review and also add to sparkling water and possibly make cocktails with!

Other juices from Costco are the Naked Smoothie Variety Pack, Blue Monkey Sparkling Juice Drink, Paul Brassac Organic Sparkling Juice, Kirkland Signature Lemonade and the Kirkland Signature Organic Juice Boxes,

Taste

This has a definite tropical taste to it! Drinking it makes me feel like I should be on a beach somewhere hot. If you’ve never had guava before, it’s a unique flavor but does remind me of a combination of strawberry, banana and pear.

The consistency of the juice is thick like nectar.

The juice is sweet and thick like nectar rather than thin juice. The thickness is coming from the guava puree that’s used to make the juice. It’s very flavorful but I wouldn’t say too sweet. I find a whole glass of this a little much so I recommend having it with lots of ice or even adding some sparkling water to it.

Cost

The two-pack of 1.89 liter juices costs $7.99 Canadian which I feel is pretty reasonable for two large containers of tropical juice.

Ready to enjoy!

Convenience

After opening the juice it needs to be kept refrigerated and the best-before date is seven months from when I purchased it. I think kids and adults will both enjoy the juice! Because it’s a thicker juice I think it would make fabulous popsicles and I bet a guava margarita would be delicious!

Nutrition

Calories

One cup of juice contains 100 calories, zero grams of fat, 10 milligrams of sodium, 26 grams of carbohydrates, three grams of fibre, 23 grams of sugar and zero grams of protein. This juice has around the same amount of sugar as other popular juices like apple and orange.

All juice is high in carbohydrates and sugar and you miss out on the healthy fibre you get from actually eating the fruit..

  1. Hi Natalie,
We hail from South Africa where we get fresh guava juice, and although that is not available here, this is not bad for the taste for a concentrated juice. However, my family prefers the Sun Tropics brand as it’s not from concentrate, give this a try – it’s available at Superstore and T&T Market. I fully agree with Ron’s comment though, and we only buy it as a treat.

  2. We stopped buying juices years ago. Of course they taste good, but they contain so much sugar….. similar to a sugar sweeened soft drink. And since it is in liquid form without most of the fiber removed, it is a spike to your system. Instead, eat the entire fruit. It shouldn’t always be about the convenience.

Optionally, you could have these and make popsicles. Or buy it for special occasions.
