Costco Le Chic Patisserie Heart-Shaped Macarons Review

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so I picked up a box of Le Chic Patisserie Heart-Shaped Macarons from Costco to try. I previously reviewed the Le Bon Patisserie Heart-Shaped Macarons back in 2022, and they look very similar, but they’re from a different company so I wanted to see how these compare. If you’re curious whether they’re worth picking up for Valentine’s Day, read the review below!

Location in Store

These are located in the refrigerated deli section near the Dessert Italiano Tiramisu and the Kirkland Signature Chocolate Chocolate Mousse Desserts. The item number is 1478707.

Taste

There are two flavors of macarons in the box: raspberry and vanilla. The macarons are slightly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. There seems to be a lot of filling, but neither flavor is overly strong.

The raspberry is slightly tangy with a mild, pleasant raspberry flavor. The vanilla is also quite subtle and a bit plain. I wouldn’t say these are the best macarons I’ve had, but considering the price, they’re pretty tasty!

Cost

There are 25 macarons in the 375-gram box—15 raspberry and 10 vanilla—and the box costs $18.99 Canadian. That works out to about 76 cents per macaron. At my local bakery, one macaron costs $2.75 to $3.50, so these are a pretty good deal!

Convenience

The macarons need to stay refrigerated, so make sure you keep them in the fridge. You could probably freeze them, but they may not taste as good. The best-before date is just under three weeks from when I purchased them.

The macarons come in a resealable plastic shell inside the box. These are so cute for a baby or bridal shower, a Valentine’s party, or as a brunch treat or snack. They’re also a nice, light dessert. They’re a product of Belgium.

Nutrition

Calories

Two macarons contain 130 calories, six grams of fat, 16 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, 15 grams of sugar, three grams of protein, and 20 milligrams of sodium. That’s not bad for two pretty flavorful, tasty cookies!

Ingredients

These macarons are gluten-free because they use almond flour instead of wheat flour. However, just because they’re gluten-free doesn’t mean they’re healthy. They still contain ingredients like glucose syrup, oils, and carrageenan. The macarons contain egg, milk, and almonds, and may contain other tree nuts and soy.

Overall

Give it a try!

These are quite tasty and I’ll have no problem finishing my box but they’re not something I’d rush out to buy again. They taste very similar to the Le Bon Patisserie Macarons.

  1. Hi Natalie, not sure if’s available in Alberta Costco but in BC we have a new product: Earl’s Clam Chowder. It’s awful in our opinion. Very salty too. Hopefully you can do a review on it and let everyone know what you think.

  2. The math on the pricing is incorrect – at $18.99 for 25, that’s 76 cents per macaron (you need to divide the price by the units, not the other way around). If they were more than a dollar each, the price would be over $25. So it’s actually an even better deal!

I’m not experienced with macarons, so I was disappointed when I bought them to see that the best before date doesn’t last until Valentine’s Day. My fault for not checking before I purchased them. So I plan on putting them in the freezer, and we’ll see how they turn out.
