Costco Pizza Roncadin Review

Did you know you can get frozen pizza imported from Italy at Costco? Today I’m going to share with you why I think the Pizza Roncadin from Costco is the best frozen pizza and my personal favorite! I’m sharing my thoughts on not one but three different kinds of spectacular Pizza Roncadin!

Other frozen pizzas from Costco are the Motor City Pizza Co. 5 Cheese Bread, Motor City Pizza Co. Double Pepperoni Pizza, Kirkland Signature Deluxe Cauliflower Crust Pizza, Kirkland Signature Cheese Pizza, Milton’s Cauliflower Crust Pizza, Kirkland Signature Pepperoni Pizza, Sabatasso’s Gluten-Free Four Cheese Pizza, Keto Izza and the Sabatasso’s Pizza Singles.

Location in Store

All three kinds of the Pizza Roncadin can be found in the freezer section at Costco. The item number for the salami, bacon and mushroom pizza is 1314371. The chicken & grilled peppers item number is 2314371. Finally, the salami, sausage, arugula, & grilled peppers pizza item number is 1773754.

Taste

Salami, bacon & mushroom

Salami, bacon and mushroom.

The crust is thin in the middle of the pizza and then gets very thick around the edges so if you don’t like a lot of pizza crust you may find this has a little too much. Personally I found the crust delicious, thin in the middle, thick, fluffy and chewy on the edges and and it’s baked to a medium brown color with noticeable leopard charred spots.

Look at all those mushrooms!

The toppings are salami, bacon and mushroom. All of which are flavorful and tasty. There’s not a ton of sauce or cheese but I found there was just enough to create a very tasty pizza. Cheese lovers you can always throw on some more cheese. You can also add any extra toppings you might like to have such as bell peppers, onions, spinach, olives, etc.

Lots of toppings!

Chicken & grilled peppers

This reminds of the chicken fajiita pizza that Costco used to sell! I really, really enjoyed the Costco Pizza Roncadin Chicken & Grilled Peppers pizza and will happyily finish my box and buy it again.

The crust is delicious.

This pizza has chicken, purple onion, grilled red and yellow peppers, cheese and a delicious ever so slightly spicy tomato sauce. The sauce just has a hint of heat to give it that fajita pizza flavor but I wouldn’t say this is a spicy pizza at all.

The grilled peppers pair perfectly with the chicken.

The crust is amazing, nice and crispy in the middle and soft on the edges. The Pizza Roncadin has a crust that is already baked in a stone pizza oven in Italy so it tastes similar to the kind of pizza you get in an authentic Italian pizza restaurant!

There’s not a ton of cheese on the pizza so if you like tons of cheese I suggest just adding a little more at home before baking. The vegetables tasted fresh and were semi-crispy after baking.

Salami, sausage, arugula & grilled peppers

The crust is the same as the other Pizza Roncadin pizzas. It’s nice and crisp on the bottom and outside of the edges, but chewy inside. I like how fluffy/chewy the edges are. It’s definitely a great frozen pizza crust. The sauce is good, but not great.

Ready to eat!

It’s a fairly sweet tomato sauce. There isn’t a ton of cheese on the pizza, but there’s enough with all of the other toppings.

Look at all the toppings!

The pizza has a good amount of toppings on it. You can see plenty of everything listed on the box. The sausage chunks and salami slices are both tasty, but be ready for some heat from the salami!

The crust is nice and thin.

It’s pretty spicy. The flavors of the veggies and meat are well balanced; if anything is lacking, it’s probably the arugula, but I’m fine with that personally.

Delicious.

Cost

The price of the Pizza Roncadin has gone up just like everything else. I paid $14.99 Canadian for the salami, bacon and mushroom pizza and the chicken & grilled peppers pizza in 2021. In 2024 I paid $16.99 Canadian for the salami, sausage, arugula & grilled peppers pizza which is the same size.

Each pizza comes individually wrapped in plastic.

Convenience

The baking instructions are the same for the chicken & grilled peppers pizza as well as the bacon, mushroom & salami pizza. You bake the pizza from frozen at 395 degrees farenheit. All you need to do is preheat the oven, bake the pizza for about 12 to 14 minutes and voila! Amazing pizza at home.

The newest pizza, the salami, sausage, arugula & grilled peppers pizza has different instructions. It says to bake the pizza at 400 degrees Farenheit for 15 to 17 minutes.

These make a convenient item to have in your freezer if you’re having people over or want a quick and convenient meal for the family. If you have leftover pizza it makes awesome leftovers for lunch. The best before date on the pizzas is about six months from the date I purchased them.

Make sure you keep your pizza in the freezer and bake it from frozen as well.

Nutrition

Calories

All of the pizzas contain quite a bit of sodium and carbohydrates which seems pretty normal for a pizza.

Salami, bacon & mushroom

One half of the pizza contains 560 calories, 22 grams of fat, 67 grams of carbohydrates, five grams of fibre, six grams of sugar, and 1530 milligrams of sodium.

Chicken & grilled peppers

Obviously not the healthiest meal you could choose but worth every calorie in my opinion and actually not that bad for half a pizza. One half a pizza contains 480 calories, 13 grams of fat, 64 grams of carbohydrates, four grams of fibre, seven grams of sugar, 23 grams of protein and 870 mg of sodium.

Ingredients

All of the pizzas contain wheat and milk and they all may contain soy, fish and crustaceans. I love that they use extra virgin olive oil in the pizza, otherwise the ingredients list is pretty typical for a store-bought frozen pizza.

Overall

Give it a try!

The Pizza Roncadin pizzas are really good frozen pizzas. The pre-baked crust works really well and they have a good quantity of high-quality toppings on them.

  1. Natalie, I also forgot to mention, that these pizzas have taken off in sales so well, in the last 2 to 3 years, that all of the larger grocery/department stores, the real Canadian superstore, Walmart, FreshCo, and Sobeys, actually have dedicated freezers solely for these pizzas alone! They don’t just stock 20 or 30 in a freezer! They buy hundreds of them at a time in 5 to 7 or more flavors, and have hundreds of them in freezers at a time! I’ve seen people by three or four pizzas at once, at the grocery till! Every time I see somebody buying these in their shopping cart, I ask them, have you ever tried these before ? Most people say yeah they’re the best frozen pizza I’ve ever tasted in my life! The ones that say no this is my first time buying them. I tell them they’re the best frozen pizzas I’ve ever tasted in my entire life and I’m 64 years old! You will love them, they’re a little more expensive, but once you try them, you’ll never go back to Delicio or McCain cardboard crust garbage pizzas, ever again! And they’re thin crust, cracker, style crust, pizzas! With super high-quality ingredients on them, nothing cheap about them! FYI, have a great day Natalie !

    • Ryan, so, just because you’re 64, does that automatically qualify you as a pizza connoisseur? Let’s remember, opinions vary widely and are far from universal. By now, you should be well aware of this simple and basic fact.

  2. Hello Natalie, hope you’re well. I noticed on the box that there’s three pizzas per box is that correct? Also, how wide are these pizzas, 9 inches, 10 inches 12 inches? They really do look like very tasty pizzas! But, I would like to suggest that they make a three piece variety pack, so you can try all three of them in one box. Personally, myself, I don’t really want three of the exact same pizza, especially if they made a variety pack of three different flavors! I’m sure that would be much more awkward in the factory for packaging, but I’m sure they would sell tons of the three piece of variety package if they sold them that way! I will check my Costco next time I’m in there to see if they have these and I would definitely give them a try! Right now, where I live in Manitoba Canada, the best frozen pizza I have ever tasted is made by a company called SPENST Brothers! Their pizzas are made in a small town, and all of the meat is from local farmers, and the cheese comes from the cheese factory also within Manitoba that has won awards for its cheese! Very thin crust, everything on these pizzas is a high-quality ingredients as well! They are 12 inch pizzas, and can be purchased at some local, grocery stores, for $8.99 each! They make about 10 different combinations! They started out selling them in one store, now they are available available in every grocery store in my city! I can buy three of these for the price of one takeout pizza! and the fact is that these pizzas taste as good as two pizzerias that are my favourite pizzerias in Winnipeg! Gondola pizza and Niakwa pizza! Best frozen pizzas ever, and the only kind I ever buy in a grocery store, except for the occasional little mini pizzas! This company, has a store and a restaurant in one of the small towns in Manitoba, and it sells all kinds of meat and cheese products! But their pizzas alone, sell everything else combined, that they have in their store! I even contacted the company and told them to never sell it to anyone else or ever change anything regarding the recipe! Next thing, you know some GIANT corporation buys it and turns it into something that taste like crap! I have told so many people I see in the store looking at frozen pizzas, to try this brand! Once they do, they’ll never turn back to anything else! McCain pizzas, Dr. Oetker, and every other brand of GIANT factory made frozen pizza,, taste, like garbage, in comparison! Have a nice Easter, Natalie and family! Keep making the great reviews! Will definitely give this pizza a try if it comes to my local Costco!
