The last time I tried a Three Bridges product from Costco was when I reviewed the Three Bridges Egg Bites. Since then, I haven’t come across many Three Bridges products at Costco, until now. When I spotted these Three Bridges Potato Bakes, I decided to pick them up and give them a try. At first glance, I assumed they were similar to twice-baked potatoes, but after taking a closer look, I realized they’re actually more like a potato and egg bite. Are they worth buying? Read on to find out

Location in Store
There are located in the refrigerated deli section near the Reser’s Scalloped Potatoes and the 44th Street Pork Back Ribs. The item number is 1916877.

Taste
The first thing I noticed was that the potato bakes taste fairly processed and don’t have a lot of flavor. The most noticeable taste is a cheesy potato flavor with a hint of chives, while the egg is barely detectable.

They’re salty and cheesy, but beyond that there’s not much depth of flavor. Some bites contain a bit more egg, making it slightly more noticeable, but they’re definitely heavier on the cheese and potato. They’re also quite salty overall. They’re okay, but I wouldn’t say they’re particularly good.

Cost
There are eight potato bakes in the 522-gram package, which costs $15.99 Canadian. That works out to about $2.00 per potato bake, which I don’t think is inexpensive. After trying them, I don’t feel they’re worth the price.

Convenience
I found it a bit odd that the packaging only includes air fryer cooking instructions. It would have been helpful if it also provided directions for a conventional oven, toaster oven, or microwave, since not everyone has an air fryer.

The potato bakes need to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date was about six weeks from when I purchased them. The packaging also specifically states not to freeze them. I’d serve these alongside bacon or sausage for a more complete breakfast.

Nutrition
Calories
Two potato bakes contain 220 calories, 13 grams of fat, 16 grams of carbohydrates, two grams of fibre, two grams of sugar, 12 grams of protein, and 450 milligrams of sodium. While two potato bakes provide a decent amount of protein, I was hoping they would contain a bit more.

Ingredients
The ingredients list is fairly simple and made up of recognizable, whole-food ingredients you’d expect to find in an egg bite. The potato bakes contain egg and milk, but they’re gluten-free and soy-free.

Overall
Walk on by!
These potato bakes aren’t great, they’re just okay. I’ll definitely finish my package but I likely won’t purchase them again.
There are eight potato bakes total, each smaller pack has two bakes.
They’re gluten-free but they are not dairy-free. They contain a lot of cheese!
You don’t get a ton of protein for 220 calories and 13 grams of fat but the ingredients list is quite simple and they aren’t full of junk.
