Costco Good Foods Creamy Cheddar Jalapeno with Bacon Dip Review

Costco carries a wide variety of dips in its refrigerated deli section, and my location’s newest addition is the Good Foods Creamy Cheddar Jalapeño with Bacon Dip. I picked it up to serve with some tortilla chips. Find out what I thought of this dip that can be served hot or cold, in the review below!

Location in Store

This is located in the refrigerated deli section near the Good Foods Plant Based Queso Dip and the La Terra Fina Queso Dip with Cheddar. The item number is 1975478.

Taste

At first taste, I found the dip quite spicy, but the more I ate it, the more I got used to the heat. It has a nice smokiness from the bacon and plenty of cheddar, which I like. There are small pieces of bacon as well as chunks of onion and jalapeños in the dip, so it’s definitely on the chunky side.

The sour cream and cream cheese help cool down the spice, but it still has quite a kick! I found that pairing it with salty corn chips helps tone down the heat. It’s a bit too spicy for my liking, but if you enjoy a spicy dip, you’ll probably really like this.

Cost

The 680-gram container of dip costs $14.49 Canadian, which isn’t cheap for a dip. It is a pretty large container though, so the price doesn’t seem outrageous.

Convenience

This dip can be served either warm or cold. Some pairing suggestions are raw vegetables, chicken wings, mini naan bread, crackers or tortilla chips. You could also use it on sandwiches or in wraps. I served mine with the Kirkland Signature Corn Chip Dippers and thought they went well together.

The best-before date is just over three weeks from the date I purchased it, and it needs to be kept refrigerated. You could probably freeze the dip as well, but it might get a bit watery when it’s thawing.

Nutrition

Calories

Two tablespoons of dip contain 90 calories, eight grams of fat, one gram of carbohydrates, zero grams of fibre, one gram of sugar, two grams of protein and 160 milligrams of sodium. This is low in carbs and not too high in calories, but it’s fairly high in fat.

Ingredients

This dip contains lots of dairy: cream cheese, sour cream and cheddar cheese. After looking at the ingredients, I appreciate that most of them are things you would add to a homemade dip; there aren’t a lot of added preservatives or artificial ingredients. The dip contains milk, egg and mustard, but is soy- and gluten-free.

Overall

Give it a try!

The more bites of this dip I had, the more I enjoyed it. I probably wouldn’t buy it again because I prefer the La Terra Fina Queso Dip with Cheddar but I don’t mind this one!
