Pistachio and chocolate is a classic flavor combination that many people love, but after reviewing so many pistachio and chocolate desserts over the past two years like the Kirkland Pistachio Chocolate Cake, Chocovia Dubai Style Chocolates and the Lamontagne Milk Chocolate Pistachios. I’ve honestly started to get a little tired of it. I almost skipped these new Atelier Cecile Pistachio Chocolate Mousse desserts at Costco for that reason, but I love chocolate mousse and was still curious to give them a try. Find out what I thought of this Costco pistachio chocolate mousse and whether I think it’s worth picking up in my review below!

These are located in the refrigerated deli section near the meats, cheese and other refrigerated desserts like the Dessert Italiano Tiramisu and the Delici Belgian Chocolate Mousse. The item number is 1990744.
Taste
The Atelier Cecile Pistachio Chocolate Mousse Desserts have a nice combination of flavors and textures. The dessert has a very chocolatey flavor overall, although when you try the mousse in the middle on its own it has a much milder chocolate taste.
The top chocolate coating has a subtle pistachio flavor, while there’s also a ring of pistachio cream around the bottom and edges. It’s a little difficult to distinguish the individual flavors because they’re fairly mild and well balanced, but I enjoyed the combination.
The mousse has a light, airy texture, while the bottom layer is grainy and crunchy, adding some nice textural contrast. The bottom layer reminds me kadayif which is like finely shredded pastry dough.
Cost
The 426-gram package costs $14.99 Canadian and contains six 71-gram Atelier Cecile Pistachio Chocolate Mousse desserts. That works out to about $2.50 per mousse, which isn’t exactly cheap, but I don’t think it’s overly expensive either, especially considering they’re a product of Belgium.
Convenience
The Atelier Cecile Pistachio Chocolate Mousse Desserts need to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date is a little less than a month from when I purchased them. The package states that the mousse has already been frozen, so you’re advised not to freeze them again. I think these would make a nice dessert after a special dinner or would be elegant enough to serve when you’re having guests over.

The ingredients list is fairly extensive, with many of the typical ingredients you’d expect to find in a processed, store-bought dessert. It includes palm, canola and sunflower oils, artificial flavors, carrageenan, preservatives and other additives. The Atelier Cecile Pistachio Chocolate Mousse Desserts from Costco contain milk, soy, wheat, pistachios, hazelnuts and eggs, and may contain almonds, walnuts and pecans.

Nothing about this dessert really stood out to me as amazing, but I still enjoyed it. I wouldn’t rush out to buy the Atelier Cecile Pistachio Chocolate Mousse Desserts again, but they’re certainly not bad enough that I wouldn’t finish the package. Overall, they’re a decent dessert option, just not one of my favorite Costco desserts.
