Costco Crunchmaster Sour Cream & Herb Crackers Review

If you’re a fan of sour cream and onion chips but want something with a similar flavor and healthier ingredients, Crunchmaster Sour Cream & Herb Crackers are a great option! These gluten-free rice crackers are made with wholesome sesame, chia, flax, and quinoa seeds, and they’re even baked with nutritious olive oil. What’s not to love? Read on to find out!

Location in Store

These are located in the aisle with the other crackers and packaged cookies like the Lotus Biscoff Cookies and the Simple Mills Almond Flour Crackers. The item number is 1144571.

Taste

I’ve tried the Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers from Costco and really enjoyed them, so I had high hopes for the Sour Cream & Herb flavor. I’m happy to say they did not disappoint! These crackers have a strong and pleasant sour cream and onion flavor, very similar to that of traditional sour cream and onion chips.

Despite being called Sour Cream & Herb flavor, I didn’t notice a very strong herby taste—which I actually appreciate, since I find the flavor of rosemary to be pretty overpowering. The texture of the crackers is nice and crunchy, and they’re fairly thick. The chia seeds and other visible seeds add a pleasant bit of extra texture and a hint of nuttiness.

Cost

The 454-gram box comes with two separate bags of crackers and costs $12.99 Canadian, which isn’t exactly cheap. That works out to about $6.50 per 227-gram bag.

Convenience

The box contains two bags of crackers, but they don’t reseal once opened. I usually store them in a Ziplock bag or use a clothespin to keep them closed. The best-before date is about ten months from the date of purchase.

Since these are so flavorful, I don’t have any dips or accompaniments to recommend—they’re tasty and satisfying enough on their own.

Nutrition

Calories

Twelve crackers contain 140 calories, 6 grams of fat, 20 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 0 grams of sugar, 3 grams of protein, and 250 milligrams of sodium. That’s not bad, especially considering the crackers are quite thick and substantial!

Ingredients

I appreciate that the crackers contain many healthy ingredients like sesame, quinoa, flax, chia, and amaranth seeds. I also love that they use olive oil instead of inflammatory canola oil.

The only unhealthy ingredients I don’t love seeing, such as sugars and natural flavors, are in the sour cream and herb flavoring. While the crackers are gluten-free, they do contain milk, sesame, and soy.

  1. Thank you Margaret L. That article from EatingWell was insightful and helpful to me. The omega-6 controversy has negatively impacted information from AI, too.

And thank you to Natalie, as well. Your Costco product articles are wonderful and tasty to read. The Crunchmaster crackers are now on my list.

  3. I do look forward to your reviews as I am a weekly Costco customer but need to be wary about buying anything that comes in extra large or multi packs.
I do take exception to your stating that canola oil is inflammatory. This often repeated statement is not based in fact. An excellent article on oils is given in Eating Well. I recommend that you read it, as it delves into how a study on rats was erroneously assumed to translate to human consumption and that is not the case.

  4. I haven’t tried these crackers but I’m concerned about the 5% trans fat. Manufactures are allowed to put 0g as long as they are 5% or under in trans fat which I think is a bit misleading as from what I understand, avoiding trans fat completely is the safest option.
