Costco Delici Dubai Style Chocolate Dessert Review

I’ve reviewed a few Delici desserts before, including the Sea Salt Caramel Mousse, Belgian Chocolate Mousse, and Lemon Meringue Pie. So when I spotted the new Dubai-Style Chocolate Dessert at Costco, I had to pick one up. I love chocolate and don’t mind pistachio, so I was hoping for something truly decadent. Read on to find out if it delivered!

Location in Store

I found these in the refrigerated deli section near the Kirkland Signature Chocolate Mousse and the Mid-Day Squares. The item number is 1990644.

Taste

The dessert is quite tasty, with a nice mix of chocolate and pistachio flavors and some variety in texture. It’s a bit on the sweet side, but not overly so.

The top layer is a sweet chocolate mousse. I’m not sure what the second layer is—it almost tastes like almond. The third layer adds some texture; it’s quite crispy, with a bit of chocolate flavor. The bottom layer is where the pistachio is. The pistachio flavor isn’t particularly strong, but it’s there.

Overall, these desserts are pretty good, though I can’t figure out where the almond flavor is coming from. If you don’t like sweet desserts or you’re looking for a really strong pistachio flavor, you might be a bit disappointed. If you’ve had other Delici desserts like this, you’ll know what to expect.

Cost

There are six 76-gram small glass containers of dessert in the box, which costs $16.99 Canadian. That’s just under three dollars per dessert, which, in my opinion, isn’t cheap for a grocery-store-bought item!

Convenience

Each dessert comes in a reusable small glass jar with a plastic lid. They need to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date is about three weeks from when I purchased them. Desserts like this are fun for a fancy dinner at home or a dinner party, since they look so appealing in the jar.

Nutrition

Calories

One 76-gram container of dessert contains 340 calories, 23 grams of fat, 30 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of fibre, 24 grams of sugar, 2 grams of protein, and 35 milligrams of sodium. That’s quite a few calories, and it’s not a low amount of fat or sugar for a small dessert!

Ingredients

I really dislike seeing the first ingredient being unhealthy oils and the second ingredient being sugar. Sometimes I think that because desserts are made in Europe, they may be a bit healthier, but not these Delici desserts. There’s beef gelatin and alcohol on the ingredients list, as well as artificial flavors. The Dubai Style Chocolate Desserts contain wheat, milk, and pistachio, and may contain eggs, soy, hazelnuts, and almonds.

These aren’t the best desserts I’ve ever tried from Costco but they’re pretty good! I had no problem finishing my pack of six!
