Costco Five Peaks S’mores Bars Review

If you’re a fan of s’mores but don’t always have a campfire handy, you might be tempted by the Five Peaks S’mores Bars from Costco. The image on the box looked incredibly tempting, so I couldn’t resist picking them up for a try. But after tasting them, I’m not sure I’ll be buying another box. Read on to find out why!

Location in Store

These are located in the snack section at Costco, near the front of the store and beside the Kirkland Signature Dark Chocolate Covered Mangoes and the E&C’s Heavenly Hunks. The item number is 1822504.

Taste

The s’mores don’t exactly taste like a real s’more, they’re okay though, not bad but not amazing. The crust is oat based, not like a graham cracker and tastes similar to the Nature’s Bakery Fig Bar.

The marshmallow is nice, it tastes fresh, is super sweet and quite spongey and chewy! The chocolate on the top and bottom is fine, it’s decent but not the best chocolate I’ve had. I gave one to my toddler and she’s not even the biggest fan, she ate a few bites and was done and didn’t eat another one when I packed it in her lunch.

Cost

There are 24 35-gram bars in the box and the box costs $18.99 Canadian. They’re definitely not cheap! One of the reasons why I started this blog is because 24 bars is a lot and if you’re spending almost twenty bucks on them and they taste awful, that’s just frustrating!

Convenience

The best before date for the s’mores bars is about 10 months from the date I bought them. Each s’more is individually wrapped so they’re easy to pop in your lunch, desk or glove box!

These little s’mores bars are perfect for a kids lunch, to bring on a road trip or to bring camping if there’s a fire ban! They don’t compare to a real s’more, but they have all the components.

Nutrition

Calories

One bar contains 130 calories, four grams of fat, 24 grams of carbohydrates, three grams of fibre, 12 grams of sugar, one gram of protein and 55 milligrams of sodium. The number of calories, fat and sugar is similar to what you’d find in a granola bar.

Ingredients

The s’mores are gluten-free as well as dairy-free, which is awesome! That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re healthy though. Some ingredients I don’t love seeing are palm kernel oil, natural flavour, soy and some additives. The s’mores contain soy and may contain eggs, milk, peanuts, sesame and tree nuts.

Overall

Give it a try!

I don’t have any specific complaints about these s’mores’ bars, I’ll finish my box and by that time I’ll probably be very sick of them!
