Costco Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Bread Review

Garlic bread is a favorite in our house, although we don’t have it very often. I usually keep a bag of Villaggio Garlic Toast in the freezer for quick and easy meals, and I’ve also reviewed the Kirkland Signature Roasted Garlic Baguette in the past. During my most recent Costco trip, I spotted the new Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Bread and couldn’t resist giving it a try. Since I’m already a fan of the soft, fluffy Kirkland Signature Brioche Buns, I was hoping this garlic bread would be just as delicious. Was it worth buying? Read my full Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Bread review below to find out!

Location in Store

This is located in the bakery section of Costco (unrefrigerated section) near the Kirkland Signature Sourdough and the Kirkland Signature Muffins. The item number is 2065699.

Taste

The Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Bread is incredibly soft, moist, and fluffy, with a texture that almost seems slightly underbaked, even though it isn’t. The brioche rolls have a subtle sweetness that’s reminiscent of Hawaiian rolls, which pairs surprisingly well with the savory garlic butter topping.

However, the garlic butter is spread only across the tops of the rolls, so the flavor isn’t evenly distributed. Some bites are loaded with garlic and butter, while others taste like plain brioche. I also found the topping a bit too rich and buttery, making the rolls quite greasy and messy to eat.

Cost

The package contains 10 brioche garlic buns and costs $7.49 Canadian. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable price, especially considering they’re fresh. While you can certainly find less expensive frozen garlic toast, those options are typically more processed and don’t offer the same fresh-baked quality.

Convenience

These Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Buns are incredibly easy to prepare. Simply bake them in a 350°F oven for six to eight minutes until the garlic butter has melted over the tops.

They make a great side dish with the Kirkland Signature Meat Lasagna or Kirkland Signature Five Cheese Tortelloni. The garlic bread has a best-before date that’s about three days after it’s packaged, and I’m confident the buns could also be frozen before baking without any issues.

Nutrition

Calories

One Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Bun contains 250 calories, 15 grams of fat, 25 grams of carbohydrates, one gram of fibre, four grams of sugar, five grams of protein, and 190 milligrams of sodium. That’s fairly high in calories and contains a significant amount of fat, but that’s to be expected given the rich brioche dough and buttery garlic topping.

Ingredients

The ingredients list looks fairly long, but the Kirkland Signature Brioche Garlic Bread doesn’t actually contain many artificial preservatives or additives. I also appreciate that the garlic butter is made with simple ingredients and uses real butter instead of margarine. The brioche garlic bread contains wheat, egg, milk, and soy, and may also contain barley, oats, rye, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame.

Overall

Give it a try!

While I enjoyed the soft, chewy texture, I actually think these brioche rolls would be even better served warm with plain butter instead of the garlic butter topping.
