I’ve reviewed quite a few Delici products from Costco, including the Dubai-style chocolate dessert, lemon meringue pie, chocolate mousse, and s’mores soufflé. When I spotted this Delici Strawberry Shortcake Mousse at my local Costco a few weeks ago, I knew I had to try it. I love anything strawberry, and this looked like the perfect light dessert for summer. Find out whether I’d buy it again by reading the review below!

Location in Store
This is located in the refrigerated dessert section at Costco near the Summ! Apple Pie Rolls with Caramel Sauce and the Kirkland Signature Chocolate Mousse. The item number is 2042210.

Taste
The Delici Strawberry Shortcake Mousse is light in texture with a mild flavor. The top layer of strawberry purée is the sweetest part of the dessert, and I appreciate that it tastes like strawberry jam rather than an artificial strawberry flavor. The vanilla mousse doesn’t have much flavor or sweetness.

The strawberry mousse on the bottom is quite tasty, with a slight tang and more flavor than the vanilla layer. The cookie crumbs don’t contribute much flavor but add a nice bit of crunchy texture. Overall, the flavors work really well together, and I like that this isn’t a super rich or overly sweet dessert.

Cost
The one-pound box comes with six individual 76-gram glass containers of strawberry shortcake and costs $13.99 Canadian. That works out to about $2.33 Canadian per dessert, which I think is pretty reasonable.

Convenience
The desserts need to be kept refrigerated, and the best-before date is about three weeks from when I purchased them. I haven’t tried freezing them, so I can’t recommend doing that. I think these are a nice, light dessert to enjoy after a big dinner. They’re great if you’re hosting a dinner and could also make a nice treat for a baby or bridal shower.

Nutrition
Calories
One 76-gram dessert contains 210 calories, 11 grams of fat, 24 grams of carbohydrates, less than 1 gram of fibre, 20 grams of sugar, 2 grams of protein, and 30 milligrams of sodium. That’s quite a bit of sugar per dessert. The calories and fat don’t really shock me, though.

Ingredients
The ingredients list is fairly long and includes some less desirable ingredients like palm oil and palm kernel oil, but it also contains a good amount of whole ingredients such as cream, strawberry pieces, and raspberry purée. The strawberry shortcake mousse contains wheat, milk, and beef gelatin, and may also contain eggs, soy, hazelnuts, almonds, and pistachios.

These aren’t the most amazing desserts I’ve had from Costco, I’m glad I tried them but I may not buy them again and just opt to try something new.
